Christian Lacroix Pre-Fall 2009

Christian Lacroix tapped into a rich well of inspiration for pre-fall: his own couture oeuvre. The designer plucked some ribbon-festooned pumps from his first haute collection, and he also showed archive-inspired dresses, including a floral-print gazar chemise and a pleated, paisley-motif tent dress. Some silhouettes had a suggestion of the Eighties, such as the cocoon-like men’s jackets and coats.

I'm a firm believer that Lacroix is totally incapable of doing anything that is bad.

I like this a lot...I especially love the printed evening gown.

And since when has Lacroix been showing pre-fall collections? I can't recall any past ones?

^ I was thinking about that too. I've never seen a pre-collection from Lacroix.
Well, I think it's a great collection even though as said before it's not ver Lacroix. I think that the shapes are a bit simple and... where are his vibrant colors?

I had a strong aversion to the first look but the rest of the collection is quite lovely. These are so much simpler and more subdued than what we'd normally expect to see from Lacroix, but there's some beautiful draping and fantastic detailing on these pieces. I hope Lacroix will do more Pre-Fall collections in the future because it really shows another side to his artisticality that we don't normally get to see.

It's nice to see that Lacroix can do simplicity too.

That BLACK DRESS!

I guess even lacroix would have to push out a cruise collection in order to restrain the economy...

But still, it looks fantastic. Not so sure about the coats though, but other than that, it's all "A"s.. Especially the open turtleneck(?) and the floral print dresses.

I want every single coat/blazer. Is there a name for the style of the first coat?

I like this, a lot. Especially the second look, it's very unexpected from Lacroix...
