Christina Berger: Heidi was a serial killer

I recently founded a great austrian designer named Christina Berger. She is very young but in my opinion she has great concept and style. I interviewed her and I share it with you :

  • Where did you go to school? When did you finish your studies?
I started studying fashion design in 2003 at the VIENNA Fashion
Institute Hetzendorf
(before I did some short courses at the London
College of Fashion and St.Martin’s…- no regular studies)
One year after I left the Fashion institute to start at the university of
applied arts
- 2004 Raf Simons was the teacher there;
I am still a student of the Fashion class under Veronique Branquinho but
in Áutumn 2006 I decided to have my own label, I was bored by beeing only
a student…;
  • What inspired your last collection?
The last collection was inspired by HEIDI, the girl from the alps and
American Psycho.. I am always mixing contraire topics.. to create
something new; Heidi stands for traditional costumes,pittoresque
landscapes and costums…..american psycho for the male killer in an urban
surrounding;
The collection was called: HEIDI WAS A SERIAL KILLER- VOLUME ONE S/S 08-
At the moment I am doing HEIDI WAS A SERIAL KILLER- VOLUME TWO- A colouredversion A/W 08/09 which will be presented during the Berlin Fashion Week
from 1st-3rd Feb 08 at the APARTMENT SHOWROOM;
the collection includes pieces like traditional knit bomber
jacketes…terror mask with traditional knit-……etc in really bright
colours;
  • Where can we buy your collection?
You can buy my collections in APARTMENT, Berlin and hopefully in Tokyo
from May 2008; let’s see what the Berlin Fashion week will bring- I hope
some more clients.-

This is the flyer of her new collection, in case you are in Berlin, and you want to take a look (please show some pictures if is the case!! :-)

Thank you for introducing this designer here, mer barcelona
& welcome to theFashionSpot

i hope her collection will be posted online eventually
it's just the flyer on her website, i think
it would be nice to see more clearly the concept in the clothing
these samples here make me think of cyber fashion
i like the odd techno-skirt in the second photo

i love when designers think that way. contrary influences is really quite an original approach to design by. but she comes from a great school of talent...and she's another refreshing talent to add to the pot of viennese upstarts.

i really enjoy that image. the way that b&w stripe shirt sets off the metallic blue....

thanks merbarcelona.
