most of this looks like it's destined to be worn by little girls

My thoughts: I got Rodarte F/W 11.12 vibes from this. Anyone else?

It's crazy the poor reception these shows (Kane and Jacobs) have been getting here, when their threads used to explode within minutes. But maybe that's tFS in general..
I'm not really getting a Rodarte vibe but I do think the way they work is similar, in that it's all dresses and whatever's available encrusted on them. ![]() Needless to say I've never been a fan. The composition of the flowers in the see-through dress reminded me of this Nick Knight picture though. ![]() ![]() [fotopolis.pl]

The shoes look terrible. However I do like the palette used. Like DK, it feels more autumnal than Spring-like...which is always good considering the paradoxical nature of the 'seasons' (Spring is really January - June, not March - August).

Oh god the pastels have got to Kane too!
I was at least expecting something exciting from Christopher, this is pretty run-of-the-mill stuff.. florals, pastels, sheer, white.. I see Christopher in the sharp cuts, including that very suggestive 'V' silver dress, but I see Lacroix in the embroidered multi-coloured flowers and, dare I say it, Valentino under current designers with the white florals. Very disappointing! Milan! Paris! Please don't give me pastels. I am relying on you. |

Christopher Kane's limitations as a designer have been exposed again.
I don't have a beef (well I do) along the lines - where is the sex?, where is the youth?, where is the edge? Times change, views change, people change -switching design vocabulary from season to season is ok. What makes for a sign of a sub-par designer is a failure to speak in a clear and singular fashion language within the same collection. For instance, I'm with Kane on the misty sorbet, just about a pastel, shimmery watery shades of the first 3 to 7 looks. Though I prefer infinitely Craig Lawrence's rendition of the colourway (Kane's cricket pullovers sit well too). It's not so much that he then goes to brown on grey (never a good color combo), the beef is that he then totally changes saturation levels to those intense punchy blues. Hi-sat continues thru the psychie florals but then the watery pastels return at close. What is Kane's view for the season? Brights or pastels? He's sat on the fence. No doubt for commercial expediency. If buyers are going for brights he's got some; if pastels they're there too. Consumer choice is all very well but there's plenty of that - the fashion world is burst to overflowing with numbers of designers. What we want, surely, from designers, is a singular view, leadership. Not schizophrenia. Because if the designer isn't confident of his world view, how will the wearer take confidence. It's confusing enough with so many designers saying so many different things without double-speak from the same designer. And whilst, in theory, it's ok to change vocabulary from season to season - we can't all be Miuccia Prada. I think Kane will have managed to confuse his followers this season in adopting this demure outlook. What does he stand for? Does he know? Does anyone? Either within or across collections. Perhaps after all it was just empty expediency all along. |

I am in love with this... very soft in shapes and fabrics and very sharp and strong in details and cuts... everything is great balanced, love the blue palette and patterns... and when it comes to patterns, think Christopher did better work than Erdem for Spring collection

i like this a lot. the sharp edging is so good, but most of these will need to be worn by "strong" fashionistas who are usually brave.
