i think it is a fantastic collection, so complex, full of detail, beautiful colours, patterns, references. once again she excelled herself, progressed cuts and design approach. probable it is my favorite collection since a/w 09. i love everything of it!

This sprobably the best website I could find for looking at the details upon close inspection.

Many of the graphics and squares in primary colors..look very much like those Russian posters from the 20's/30's/40'. There is a particular name for the influence...bt it escapes my mind at the moment.
you are thinking of russian constructivism. some of the colors and a couple elements here are similar but i don't have the feeling that it was a major influence. i feel constructivism is more geometric, rigid, and unemotional than this collection is.

you probably already know, but gaultier did his famous russian constructivist collection for a/w 1986. you can google several images.

in this cdg collection i see a panoply of influences, but mainly japanese, american, and british.

you know what...?
when i saw the silk smoking jackets and robes i thought of haider as well...
but i think that the major difference is that this is done with irreverance...
rei is in on the joke...there is a wink and a nod...
with haider...
it was all SO serious...

plus- did you ever see any of it in the stores?
i saw it at barney's and let me tell you...
it is ridiculous...!!!...
so much more ridiculous in person than on the runway...
if you can believe it...

all the CDG stuff looks quite chic in the store,
as evidenced by the pics that runner recently posted above...(thank you sir......)
there is quite a lot of wearable, yet interesting stuff in this collection mixed in with all the big and kooky print stuff...

with haider...
it was all kook and that's it...
that was the problem, imo...
...

plus- i think haider was closer to a galliano collection than a comme collection...
it was very soft and droopy (some say drapey, i say droopy...)...like john's stuff...
rei's stuff has much sharper edges...imo...

the wigs are essential part of the whole silhouette, imo. it's an element of structure and shape, which the whole look is based on, which makes it work, like the black caps in s/s 10 were. just imagine the rounded pants and slim shouldered jackets without such a round, disheveled hair (alternatively a hat), that would not really work, imo. and the wigs are really punky and hippiesk, what i like. it is really a 'plus' collection.

^well maybe it is an element of structure. but the collection would have been better without them, the whole collection is not based on them either.
