I take it you're thinking of Franz Ferdinand. Can't think of many other hugely influential bands. It's a good scene but quite "local" with a few exceptions. Runrig probably aren't in the cool creative category.

Well, odd list to me. Does it just pertain to automobiles & products or creativity in general? First, one could have indeed listed Belgium, considering the progressive music/DJ scene....the fashion(of course)...contemporary art...et al.

Actually,Tricot, have to tell you...Bernhard and Dirk Schönberger both did study in Germany before heading to Antwerp. Dirk actually never attended the Royal Academy at all...just did stints with Belgian designers. He acquired his degree at Esmod in Munich. I can't remember the name of the school Bernhard attended though.

But like Belgium,Germany I can see a bit higher in terms of the music scene and art...and U.S.?? What the hell is that all about?! I don't think America has been that creative since the 80's. And they totally lest to mention U.K. which I find rather appalling as well. So by that, one can only assume that this list is all about business and production rather than the dynamics of creativity. It's quite deluded, really.

I went to Iceland a few weeks ago and I was blown away by the creativity. It is such a great place and everyone seems to be a designer of some kind. There are only 270,000 people in the whole country too!

Uhh...have we forgotten the hugely iconoclastic Cocteau Twins,Johnny....and Elizabeth and her banshee style of singing...they were nothing if not influential and creative.

Thanks for posting.

I def. see Sweden at the top of the list, at least at this moment. And by the way, IKEA is awesome. I spend hours there like I would a mall.

Interestingly, the list would probably still hold, excluding the USA and Japan, if one replaced 'creativity' with 'coldest, wettest, most Nordic'. And why is the USA in that list on the merit of its economy? Is Britain not still the major European economy or are ex-imperial powers excluded from all the hip lists...

Scott, you´re right about Bernhard Willhelm and Dirk Schönberger, I remember an interview in which Bernhard said that he decided to transfer to Antwerp after he saw their graduate fashion show. Back then he already studied fashion for some time. I didn´t know about Dirk though...

The Netherlands is on the list, so I am happy :p
I get why Scotland isn't there and why Belgium is there (what music/dj scene Scott? just curious) But still I kind of miss France there....

Talent and tolerance aren't a bit subjective?
