I have to say, as much as the collection looked glamorous and polished, the shapes were extremely unflattering. They all hanged in a weird way (besides the dresses being belted) and the length of the dresses/skirts was quite disturbing. They even made models look shorter, which can never be a good thing. But kudos for the collection coming off as very clean and well made, I really respect that.

The collection was beautifully put together although perhaps not as impressive as S/S 2011. The latter pieces were really perfect - especially the long, silk dresses with the detailing on the back:

not even close to the perfection of Spring 2011. This is unflattering and boring , some pieces are nice , but over all ,its less Derek Lam and more of a watered down version of Chloe's Spring 2011 collection . Derek cuts wonderful wide leg trousers , I am surprised he did not include a pair here.

I love this collection! I just find the purple patterns similar to one blouse H&M has in the collection now....

I really like this collection and kudos to Derek Lam for continuing to present a "Derek Lam woman" who is interesting and aspirational but not in s "Lady Gaga, look at me" kind of way... but, is it me or are quite a few of these looks kind of derivative? I am seeing hints of Prada, Jil Sander, Pucci/Blumarine, Calvin Klein and Celine/Chloe, although I am not too put out by it because it looks like he put some thought into his adaptations and in many cases, I just like his versions better.

I love the three final dresses not really excited about the rest. It's rather safe and pretty common.
