I always say Lanvin as it's written, with in pronounced like "in the mailbox".

Well actually the eu in Demeulemeester is not pronounced like me or mu.....it's a combination of letters that is only used that way in the Dutch language and it is very very hard to explain...

Soo... is it like the Scandinavian ö/ø and/or sort of like a French œ?

Sort of like Deh-möh-leh-mayster? Duh-mœh-luh-master?

I'm sorry, the explanations simply confuse me...

Well, whaddayaknow... So it is like Deh-möh-leh-mayster... (I'm mixing languages in my pronounciation spell-out, though... Sorry!)

Thanks! I usually don't have a problem with pronounciations in any language but Dutch... How is it that two "ee" are pronounced as "ei"? Guess you just have to know it!

Hehehehe, yeah it's a weird language...we have all sorts of combinations that only we use, like the eu, ui, ij, ei, ee, ou, au, oei, aai, eeuw, ieuw, ooi, and probably some more too :P But according to Encarta, Dutch is the language that is most similar to English and it's dialects....hmmmm........

Yeah, languages are more or less strange with all their "sounds"; hardly anyone I met outside of Scandinavia can pronounce my name... I think Lena did a very good job though!

I'm moving to Germany next week, that'll be a challenge...

Lena,

I was under the impression that Rochas was "roash" (like roach but with an 's') and a quick "ahs".

ROASHAHS!

I don't know if that makes sense.

as far as i know, the S does not get pronouced at the end of Rochas ,
so actually it is RochA.. with tonic accent on A
