does fashion file say how to pronounce different designer names chick?

Someone else asked about martin margiela. I suggested mar-gee-elle-ah but am not sure if that is correct.

i still have problems with balenciaga. whether it's ba-len-cee-AH-gah or ba-len-CEE-ah-gah

I actually do know the answer to that one! I was watching a biography on Yul Brynner and they mentioned that his wife was very different from him... How she was interested in the major designers of the time. Among them bel-ansi-a-aga.

I always think it's ba-len-thee-ah-ga. "Thee" likes gra-thias :-)

The man was Spanish, I think:-)

true...but that soft c is specific to only cedrtain dialects of spain...my dad's a spanish profesor..so i know this...correct pronunciation is the first one meg posted...with the
cee-ah...blended together the way purple posted....

sort of like this...bah len syAH gah...

purple...i guess just because you see it on tv...doesn't mean it's accurate..unfortunately...i guess they were experts on yul brynner(sp?), but not so much on fashion... (was the announcer british?...they often mispronounce it)
btw...OT...didn't he have several wives?...

I'm still confused:
AZZ-EH-DEEN like [di:n] - english pronunciation or
[de:n] - french (?) pronunciation???

Maar-TEEN Maar-HEE-lah
Ahn Duh-moo'-lah-MEE'-ster
Bah-len'-thee-AH'-ga (somewhere in between a "th" and an "s")

Woah what? I'm confused. What is Bright Speech?

It's "bah - len - see - ah - guh"

and

"mar - zhell - uh"

How do you pronounce "Slimane"? I always say Slim-ane (the ane rhymes with pain) but I'm pretty sure that's wrong.

I always thought "Margiela" was pronounced Mar-gee-ella

Sorry don't know if that was clear.

"mar - jzelle - uh"

haha I'm bad at translating these phonetically. If anyone wants, they can leave their phone number and I'll call them up and pronounce it. :P

slih - man

mane rhymes with the french pronunciation of 'main' (hand) or 'pain' (bread)
