does it really matter how one pronounces a word- we all speak differnty and personally i adore the variation. i cringe when i hear someone labouring over a pronounciation in a dept. store.

well, I think if you like a certain label, you should at least know how to pronounce it correctly.

i was in Saks and I heard a guy say "I like these Zeg-Nah's.." for Zegna. it's just tacky a bit in my opinion

nobody's mentioned this so maybe it's just me.

PHILO, as in phoebe philo. I've always avoided saying her last name out of uncertaintly and fear of a potential faux pas.

The surname sounds French rather than Italian, if so, it's a sound that doesn't quite exist in English...

The 'k'/'qu' sound isn't quite anything.

Gair - la(n)

rhymes with "fair man"...the (n) is effectively silent, and the a is a bit nasal and quite short... Gair-la(n), not Gair-laaaaaaa(n)
