God, it's absolutely drop dead gorgeous! This is the Donna Karan I infinitely adore and appreciate. The draping is almost mythical.

I'm not feeling this at all. It's so uncharacteristically fussy for Donna Karan, and fussy has never been a word I would associate with her work. Even at it's most dressed up and rarefied there has always been something incredibly real and approachable about it.

This is too done, too icy and too far up on a pedestal for my taste.

The thing is, considering Donna's reputation for being the queen of American sportswear, this is extremely professional and almost too serious for her. The collection doesn't have the free/safari/wild feel to it, which is always present in her work, even in fall seasons.
BUT on the other hand, she's included the BEST draping I've ever seen from her.

this collection of all of her recent outings seems more down to earth and less out in the fashion wilderness. unfortunately, i think her work has more impact the more concept it embraces. on the other hand, donna karan remains such a genius that even her less-than-stellar efforts still hug a woman in all the right places, effuse softness and structure through the smartest fabric choices, and conjure that urban woman who knows herself without even a hint of pretense.

This colour palette is quite different from what we have seen in other collections. Personally, I think it works. There is a patrician, maybe less downtown, feel to this collection, but she has DKNY for that, and this is an interesting and elegant foray for her.
