DVF Loves Gap - Diane von Furstenberg for the Gap
dailymail.co.uk

Diane von Furstenberg's wrap dresses, and all her subsequent creations, have long been style staples for the yummy mummy.
But her latest collection is targeted at a somewhat younger market, thanks to a collaboration with Gap Kids.
A behind-the-scenes video from the campaign shoot for the highly-anticipated range offers an early glimpse of the designs ahead of next month's launch.
Shift dresses, shorts and cropped trousers keep the silhouettes simple, with all the statement coming from the prints.
The most prominent is a vibrant pebble-inspired design, which comes in varying sizes and an array of bright primary colourways.
The designer reveals in the video that the collection was designed to celebrate life and colour.
She explains: 'I wanted to go to the core of what the brand is and take print, and make them fun print and things that little girls would like.'

Indeed, the young models chosen to showcase the collection appear to be having a ball, daubing the set with paint, and dancing with Ms von Furstenberg.
We also see footage of the design team putting their ideas together on mood boards, including fittings for some of the garments in their earlier stages.
The designer is seen in one clip pulling a collar up on one child saying: 'Give them a little attitude.'
In another, she looks at the little girl she is fitting and asks: 'That is chic, don't you think?'
A further shot of her tying a bow at the waist of one of her models demonstrates how the wrap dress concept has filtered into the collection.
Her aim, Ms von Furstenberg explained, was to empower the girls she was designing for.
'A little girl, the minute she is born, she already is the woman she will be,' she said.
'So to empower a little girl is to empower the woman she will become.'
The collection will see her follow in the footsteps of Stella McCartney who created two sellout lines for Gap last year before launching her own childrenswear range.
In a statement announcing the collaboration last summer, Ms von Furstenberg cited her role as a 'proud mother and grandmother' as her inspiration to branch out.
She added that she was excited to work with the 'superstar retailer',
Art Peck, president of Gap for North America, described the designer and CFDA President as 'a true American fashion icon and inspiration to women around the world.'
He said: 'I'm looking forward to offering our customers an exciting collection that applies her signature approach to print, optimistic colour and femininity.'
The DVF Loves Gap collection launches on March 15. For more information and to watch the video, visit Gap.com

so cute! I wish she was doing a line for grownups :p

if i had a kid i would definitely dress it up in some of these pieces... they look vibrant, playful and fun

i think a lot of the designers who do childrens collections tend to make miniature adult clothes that end up looking beautiful but way too serious.
a kid could play and have fun in this stuff
