Eley Kishimoto take over Cacharel

ELEY KISHIMOTO TAKES THE ARTISTIC DIRECTION OF CACHAREL WOMEN READY-TO-WEAR. FALL WINTER 08/09 WILL BE THEIR FIRST COLLECTION FOR THE BRAND.

gives me great pleasure to reveal the new artistic direction of Cacharel women ready-to-wear will be Eley Kishimoto. Fall winter 08/09 will be their first collection for the brand. Congratulations, well done, Cacharel.

Mark Eley and Wakako Kishimoto met in the early 90’s ; the design team quickly gained a reputation for incisive and intelligent print design. They have worked for such big names as Louis Vuitton, Marc Jacobs or Alexander McQueen, to name but a few.
In the mid 90’s they launched their own label that is still a success in the fashion world - currently partnered with Mitsui, Japan-. At the same time they continue to work within textile design with Ratti, World Textile. The creative team is also involved in other fields such as interiors and architecture.
This partnership between Cacharel, well known for its prints success and Eley Kishimoto “patron saints of print” seems obvious.

Cacharel wasnt exactly my favourite but it had some nice pieces from what I remember. But I dont know if Eley Kashimoto are the designers needed here.

well i don't know who else they would choose. i hardly expect anybody huge since cacharel tends to be rather quiet. they could have went with somebody like jonathan saunders but i don't think his aesthetics of printwork would work well at cacharel. i think maybe they were looking for somebody who could identify with the house and EK's own print work is very close to the exuberance of cacharel.

...Also in November, Cacharel said it ended its brief association with British design couple Mark Eley and Wakako Kishimoto.
[Women's Wear Daily]

and also Cacharel has announced that they would not show during Paris Fashion Week for Fall/Winter 09/10.
