Christopher Kane is way too perfect for Versace. I would prefer that he stay there.

Hollywood bad girl Lindsay Lohan's first collection as artistic advisor for Emanuel Ungaro was a "disaster", the founder of the French couture house said here, local press reported.
"Lindsay Lohan's collaboration was a disaster," the designer said during a meeting on Monday night with the public at the international film festival in Estoril, near Lisbon.
"I am furious but I can't do anything about it," fumed the designer, who emphasised that he no longer had any contact with the house which bears his name since he left in 2005. The house now belongs to an American investment company.
Lohan, 23, whose**** habits and drink-driving conviction turned her into paparazzi fodder and wreaked havoc with her acting career, was named official muse to the prestigious house alongside Spanish designer Estrella Archs in September.
Their first catwalk collection together unveiled in Paris in October was panned by the international fashion press.
Ungaro said he regretted that the fashion house he started "is in the process of losing its soul."
"That happens to a lot of designers. We were the creators and patrons, responsible for the creation and destiny of our houses. But when we gave up our houses, we gave up our souls."
Ungaro has seen a merry-go-round of chief designers come and go since Emanuel Ungaro hung up his scissors.

Neiman Marcus and Net-A-Porter Dropped Emanuel Ungaro for Spring

This week, Emanuel Ungaro suggested Lindsay Lohan is sucking the soul out of the label he founded. Retailers seem to agree. After terrible reviews for the show marking Lohan's debut as artistic adviser, Neiman Marcus and Net-A-Porter have dropped Ungaro for spring 2010. They were the only two major retailers selling the label outside of freestanding Ungaro stores. Barneys and Saks haven't carried the line for several seasons, and also decided not to pick it up for spring. If you want to buy some spring Ungaro, you can still find it at Vivaldi on the Upper East Side.

Ungaro CEO Mounir Moufarrige brought Lindsay on to boost sales — and yet she's having the opposite effect. Ho-hum. It raises the question of what Moufarrige will do with his new party-girl employee, who is incapable of cleaning her bedroom, probably much less holding a top position at a once-revered high-fashion house. We've heard that shortly after the show, Moufarrige was calling top editors for advice. Rumors about Lohan not getting paid have been going around for some weeks, and now rumors are going around about her getting let go altogether. Lohan has her leggings line to fall back on, but does Ungaro have a safety net?

Well, file this under Not Surprised: Both Neiman Marcus and Net-a-Porter, two of the only big shopping destinations where Ungaro can currently be bought outside of the brand’s own boutiques, have dropped the line for Spring 2010, according to representatives for the stores. Barneys and Saks, meanwhile, haven’t carried the label in a few seasons, and they didn’t jump at the house’s new party girl-based image—neither of them picked up the line for Spring, reps confirm.

As for who did? Well, there’s Vivaldi, an Upper East Side boutique best known for carrying mostly Paris and Milan-based fashions for a well-heeled clientele. And those with a taste for fuchsia minidresses and flying in the face of conventional wisdom can always seek out Ungaro’s own stores.

^let's be clear: neiman marcus and net-a-porter stopped carrying it because -- in this economy -- that stuff won't sell. however, it gives them an easy out because it's not like esteban cortozar blew our socks off in the way that dundas did or valli could.

^Then we had better tell Karl Lagerfeld, with his two year waiting lists for merchandise...It won't sell because it is junk and no one in their right mind would buy it- not beacuse the economy is bad...Several of the high end fashion operations are doing very well right now...

i didn't mean to speak generally. let's not fool ourselves into thinking ungaro has the same type of cachet as a chanel or a fendi. chanel will always sell because it's one of those brands first off the lips when one thinks of luxury. it's like gucci or prada or dior, etc.

it just goes to show you that simply attaching a high price to clothing doesn't make it sell well like other houses....
