That's the thing, ultimately the face of the house is held responsible...whether or not we know that they don't actually have anything to do with that end of things (such as now).

For example, I remember back when he was still doing runway shows Tom Ford got a lot of flack on tFS with people insulting him for what they perceived as being a bad collection in one breath and then reminding everyone that he has a team of designers doing the work for him.

Unfortunately that's just how fashion works. Whoever takes the bow gets the flack.

^two women took that bow and we all know one had a greater hand in executing that vision than the other. diane von furtstenberg and nathan jenden bow together at the end of the day and we assign blame accordingly. it's not like lohan went shopping for bolts of fabric or had a hand in sewing. do we honestly hold justin timberlake accountable for a wayward pant in the william rast collection?

and it's not like net-a-porter.com and neiman marcus remain the only two points of sale for this brand. further, one glitzy perfume or some oft-photographed it-shoes can make up the gap anyway. it's just too early to count this strategy out. also, neiman marcus/bergdorf goodman and net-a-porter.com probably were just making room for the buzzworthy celine collection. phoebe has friends in high places, remember.

^ Well, when one of the few places that can even make an attempt to sell a $6,000. dress won't even carry it- it is a really bad sign... I think the next show will tell the tale- if this one isn't a hit....

^i see what everyone sees, too, but it's just too early to count them out. does anyone remember tomas maier's first fashion collections for bottega? the bags were sublime, the shoes were wonderous, but those clothes.....

the next collection truly is make or break.

^ Yup...BTW- Lindsay seems to be keeping somewhat of a low profile the last week or two...I wonder if she could be, I don't know, working on something for them?? Crazy, I know, but just a passing thought...

Ungaro CEO Resigns, Lohan Stays On

Emanuel Ungaro CEO Mounir Moufarrige has resigned, WWD reports. Though rumors have been circulating for some time about turmoil in the house at the executive level as a result of hiring Lindsay Lohan as artistic adviser, essentially turning the once-revered label into a laughingstock, Ungaro says Moufarrige is stepping down for other reasons.

In a brief statement, Ungaro said Moufarrige would continue to advise the company as a member of its strategic committee, but that he was "withdrawing" from an operational role to devote more time to his other businesses, which include U-Boat and Welder, two fast-growing Italian watch companies.

Lindsay Lohan is still employed at the house, but won't be left to run it all by her lonesome (she's got to get those Purple shoots done, too!). Marie Founrier, an eighteen-year veteran of Ungaro, will oversee all operations and presumably chaperone Lindsay as general manager. But with Moufarrige gone, one wonders how long Lindsay will last. The fall 2010 season is approaching at a terrifying rate (the men's shows start next month!), and Moufarrige was the only person who seemed to have confidence in her and her heart-shaped nipple pastie ways. We even heard rumors that after hiring her, he put in frantic calls to editors for advice, seemingly doubting his decision. Is he jumping ship before things get worse? And what could possibly be in store for fall? Plastic pants and rainbow face stickers? Let's hope not.
