Surrealism
"Surrealism is an artistic movement that officially proclaimed its existence with the publication of the Surrealist Manifesto in 1924. The movement owes its name to French poet Guillaume Apollinaire, who in 1917 uses the term 'sur-réaliste' to describe a form of expression that surpasses realism." - musee-magritte-museum.be
Dior Haute Couture Spring/Summer 1999
"John Galliano was in surrealistic mood at his haute couture show for Christian Dior in Paris yesterday. There were jewel-encrusted fastenings shaped like oversized eyes with clock faces for irises, suits with jackets worn back-to-front and even a Magritte painting lookalike escorting a model to her pedestal centre stage." - independent.co.uk

what art movement/era do/have designers use(d) as influence?
what art movement are designers most influenced by for their collections, photo shoots, fabrics, etc. Is there a specific art era (surrealism, baroque, etc.) that you see being used the most often for inspiration?
If you have any links to collections or pieces that have been influenced by fine arts, I would greatly appreciated it. Thanks!
