The Fashion Spot's picks for best collections Mens SS/12
1. Balmain
Yes, its not something groundbreaking, not even .. very Balmain, but its very street and urban and thats what I see whenever I go out, to me, thats a hit
2. Comme des garcons
Rei did it once again. I particularly liked the tops/jackets from the entire collection but there's much more than it meets the eye.
3. Dries Van Noten
THE collection of the season. There's something for EVERY man, I guarantee.
4. JPG
Gaultier took one of his signature looks (the mariniere) and twisted it just like he can do (especially now that its a "must" on any closet).
5. Rick Owens
Grunge, 90s, dark, minimal. Do I need to say more?
6. Viktor & Rolf
Why was it a hit? Its a departure from what they've shown before! Lovely summery outfits and showing more skin. Because even the geeks seem to have joined the gym.
7. Vivienne Westwood
Olympics + Westwood = Brilliance!
8. Yohji:
It seems like he borrowed heavily from the japanese tradition (with the haori pants and all) I want EVERY. SINGLE. BOTTOM. SHOWN. Domo.
9. Z Zegna
Have you ever seen an ENTIRE collection which seems custom made for you? This is my case.

One of the boldest collections of the season, not only because Tisci did florals, he dared use florals AND skirts. You be the judge.
10 (tied) Lanvin
Ossendrijver came to deliver us a collection to shake up whatever we had seen from the previous collection for the season and awaken our tastebuds: It made me hungry for more.

Balmain was actually my favorite collection, too. I couldn't help thinking "I totally want to date a guy that dresses exactly like this!" while browsing through the pictures
The rest is in no particular order:
- Dior Homme
- Dries van Noten
- Gucci
- Jil Sander
- Kris van Assche (that would be my close 2nd favorite)
- Missoni
- Neil Barrett
- Raf Simons
- Yohji Yamamoto
Balenciaga (even though it does remind more of a FW collection than SS)

Balmain (even though it's pretty much same as the year before and before that, but hey, at least it's consistent)

Lanvin (even though it's less lovely than usual and lots of weirdness going on there)

I'm not being objective, just picking out what I'd wear. Choice falls to these three mostly because of lack of other options. Do not want People's Republic of China grunt uniforms or billowy poet clothes or 80s or whatever else lame decade clothes. I'm way too old to go for that ****. Although I must say Prada was funny, nothing I'd expect. Gucci and Hermes was ok too, but a bit too boring.
