Gorgeous venue, and that floorlength black robe on Du Juan is stunning as well, but the clothes themselves just don't do the location justice.
If, as dior_couture already mentioned, Galliano were to show a collection inspired by ancient China, or Gaultier had taken his f/w 01 couture collection to the Great Wall it would've made perfect sense and been an extremely fabulous show. I don't really think the comparison between this and having a Starbucks in the middle of a historical site is quite the same. Starbucks in the Forbidden City makes it more of a touristy amusement than a historical site, this is a temporary presentation that's meant primarily to bring in attention rather then profits involved with the event itself. Fashion show at the pyramids....there's something to aspire to
