I would like to know too. Robert Geller has shirts like these every Spring for his mens line (same in Cloak) but the only names I can find by looking at the show brochure is "dock shirt". But a dock shirt does not have to be cut this way nor does it have to be short sleeve.

The sleeves on all seem to be a part of the overall shirt material though instead of sewn on or raglan.

I quite like the collection. It isn't as ground breaking as last season but there are a few lovely details and some interesting pieces. Overall, the collection has quite a cinematic feel in a French nouvelle vague sort of way with some quite classic designs updated be the use of an epaulet sleeve or a striped print. Some of the details on the backs of garments (such as a that khaki striped skirt) and the cuts are very nice. The leather bags (especially the royal blue, the brown and the khaki) with the little holes cut into them are truly lovely and the accessories are all sort of fun. I love the varied heel design but can understand that they might be like Marmite.

I usually LOVE Fendi bags... but these I don't get. The sunglasses are cool. But the whole collection is a "miss" to me.

I'm now thinking they are like a foreshortened version of the sleeve in the opening look of Prada SS11. Same sort of line and construction but cropped right back. It's interesting that you should mention menswear in that the Prada SS11 built on the Prada menswear of the same season. And they do bring a strong shouldered, androgynous we might say, impression to the silhouette. Would still really like a naming and a history lesson though - anyone?

I've a vague feeling they might, when cropped back like this, have medieval roots, perhaps tabards or armour?

(seems there'll be quite a wait for the Prada livestream)

Cloak Spring 2007

nymag.com

The collection was inspired by Music and WWII

Since dock shirt doesn't seem appropriate, time to look up cap sleeves.
