Francisco Costa of Calvin Klein for Macy's
Quote:
Francisco Costa, Creative Director of Calvin Klein Womenswear will be designing a unique capsule collection for the U.S. department store Macy’s.
As Part of the brand’s spring promotion, ‘A Magical Journey to Brazil’ it has commissioned the Brazilian designer to create a range of dresses which he says, “reflects both my roots and the modern, yet timeless spirit of Calvin Klein”. A rep for Macy’s also added that the collection is strongly influenced by the architecture of Brazil.

The line will be priced between $135-$180, which means the Calvin Klein label will be more accessible than ever to fans of Costa’s iconic design aesthetic. The collection launches in Macy’s stores in the U.S and online on May 15th. Well worth planning a trip across the pond for.
Harper's Bazaar

I couldn't decide if it meant Francisco first of the Calvin Klein brand, but to me it does sound like it's the brand doing it for Macy's.

i feel like this is kind of a weird collaboration...

other than being designed exclusively for macy's stores i don't really see the appeal.

you can already purchase a ton of calvin klein (the lower priced lines anyway) at macy's, so it kind of feels like... what's the point?

i think these sorts of things make much more sense when they're with brands that exclusively do high end stuff that you wouldn't see in macy's otherwise.

Francisco Costa brings his clean-lined Calvin Klein minimalism to Macy's this May with a limited-edition capsule collection of dresses in architectural shapes and sunset hues — all inspired by his home country of Brazil.

The collection of jersey and crepe pieces — titled Francisco Costa For Calvin Klein — will be priced from $135 to $180 and is part of the retailer's "A Magical Journey to Brasil" Spring initiative. "This fresh, youthful line of dresses reflects both my roots and the modern, yet timeless spirit of Calvin Klein," Costa — who was born in Guarani, Brazil — explained.

Francisco Costa For Calvin Klein hits Macy's and macys.com May 15.

I know he's not as known as karl lagerfeld, but it's not like they said, karl lagerfeld of chanel and fendi for macy's...

i guess you can't really compare the two though...

I think it's because Calvin Klein is already sold at Macy's, and knowing their customers they wouldn't notice the difference if they just said Calvin Klein for Macys because it's already there

As an aspiring minimalistic designer myself I am not really seeing how this collaboration is going to work - the appeal of Calvin Klein Collection is bare-faced simplicity with extraordinary fabrics and fabric techniques and experimentation mixed with interesting cutting and stunning details.. these ideas make extremely simple clothing interesting.
They also cost a lot of money to make, hence why they are high-end.
Remove everything expensive about these clothes and you have pretty basic clothing.
And as someone already pointed out - we already have CK for that..
I'm very interested to see how this turns out.. maybe Costa can handle the cheaper markets also..?

The only thing I would probably be excited about are the materials and colors he would use for the collection....I don`t expect any geometric shaped dresses but for someone who appreciates Mr. Costa`s work will no doubt be there first thing when it hits stores.

i haven't had any interest in the brand since calvin left, really...
