Some of the silhouettes are unflattering, but this is by far the best HC collection yet.

Maximum volume yields maximum results.

Wow, stunning! It's been quite a long time since I last enjoyed a GV's collection as much as I enjoy this one. He's definitely taking the right way.

Beautiful gowns but some cuts are very unflattering. When even the skinny models look big in them what will they do to normal figures?

The work that has gone into these pieces is absolutely incredible.
After watching the show, I think HQ detail images are more than needed, I'll post some of the most impressive pieces, from
(click for HQ)

This dress is completely covered in beading, the fact that the flounces in the skirt are keeping their shape under the weight of the beads suggests internal structure exclusive to haute couture.

These pieces are covered in sequins, each one hand-applied

I remarked to a friend the other day that I'm surprised by how much I like what Valli has so far done with his couture collection. Besides finding his aesthetic a better fit for couture, I actually think he has a much lighter touch with couture than his RTW ever would have led me to believe he might.

None of this is what I'd consider my taste at all, and yet I really love most of what he showed. It's beautifully done, with the occasional twist to make it more than just a rehash of chic cliches. That bugle beaded knee-length dress with the exaggerated flounce is a perfect example; the shape and style could be something Audrey Hepburn would have worn (it's kind of an extreme take on one of her Breakfast at Tiffany's dresses) but the way the beading is arranged gives it this linear, graphic sharpness that takes it someplace else.

Gorgeous stuff all around. I can't wait to see how he'll continue to grow.

This is easily the best couture collection this season. This is what a collection collection should look like.
