I agree about the comparisons mentioned thus far to his mainline. I find his prive stuff to be where he really advances interesting ideas. I love the 20's aesthetics that prive always seem to have.

Exactly.
I think Prive is where we see the real talent of Armani. He keeps very... boring and safe with Emporio and Giorgio as mainlines, but when he is inspired? It comes out in his couture shows. He does pieces that are truly beautiful, extreme attention to detail, very careful with shape, silhouette, and fabric, but yet they are still a simple elegance. If you wanted to make it art. Dior is the renaissance and Armani is the romantic movement, he's the impressionist. Adore, adore, adore. |
