Greg Lauren
Anyone familiar with the work of Greg Lauren? Tried to look around TFS for anything posted about him yet - didn't find anything, so I figured I'd start a thread.

I think he is INCREDIBLE. His pieces are absolutely breathtaking. They are gorgeously tailored and have so much soul - the beauty of the vintage army/navy found textiles and re-purposed clothing shines through.

He reminds me of an American Galliano. His pieces are so romantic. I doubt he'd ever truly be interested in taking the position (as he's more of a fine artist), but I think he'd be a genius successor to Ralph at Ralph Lauren, if and when Ralph does decide to retire.

Here are some examples of his work. He creates for both men and women. His work is sold at Barneys and Dover Street Market, among other select boutiques.

Thanks for sharing dior_couture1245!

Funnily enough, I find these designs working much better and more authentic in concept as installation pieces. But I find them lacking soul and personality as fashion garments. This is the equivalent of wearing a Dan Flavin piece as clothing-- it just doesn't work. It feels so heavy and forced as garments.

I definitely appreciate the attention to details and the construction. But it's all so serious... It lack any of Margiela's, and Gaultier's humor, wit and lightness when they approached fusion in their work. Greg should lighten up and not work such a concept so literally, then his pieces would be really nice.
