H&M to release official "Girl With the Dragon Tattoo" clothing collection

H&M has teamed up with Trish Summerville, costume designer on Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, on a Lisbeth Salander-inspired clothing collection.

And it makes more sense if you think about it. H&M is the most famous Swedish fashion brand, and Stieg Larsson's Dragon Tattoo series is arguably the most famous literary export that the country has to offer: why not combine the two?

And while fans of the books and films may not be rushing to copy the protagonist's gothic black crop, multitude of piercings or distinctive body art, we're willing to bet they'll feel very differently when it comes to emulating her tough-look rock-chick styling.

The 30-piece capsule collection has been described as having "a dark, urban feel" - so think lots of ripped skinny jeans, printed tees, leather and lace-up boots, with the odd hooded top thrown in for good measure.

"The clothes are all about the attitude," explains Ann Norling, designer for Divided at H&M.

"They have a toughness to them but they are also really flattering. The collection is so much more than costume - it's a fashion statement, it's modern, and it's right for now."

The H&M Girl With a Dragon Tattoo collection is set to launch exclusively at the Colette department store in Paris on 28 November, before rolling out to 180 H&M stores worldwide and online from 14 December. (mydaily.co.uk)

I've got to say, I'm not really interested in the film and usually not a fan of collaborations but the clothes look awesome! Especially the jackets. I hope they look as good in person.

Oh no, I hate that it looks so awesome! The quality will probably still be super cheap - especially because it's from the Divided line - and I always hate when H&M releases a cool collection because I know everyone is going to wear it.

I love that collection, but the trousers (the girl on the very left is wearing) look like pants H&M is selling for a while.

Looks like an unexpectedly nice alternative to the tacky Versace rubbish they'll be selling just a few weeks before this. Since most of the designs seem quite unisex in look and fit, I might end up buying a piece or two.

i'm definitely going to check this out. hopefully while everyone is fighting over the versace, i'll be able to try this on. it looks very androgynous (and very rick owens drkshdw).

i know, right?!
it actually looks good and i am actually interested...
and i haven't been able to say that about H&M for a long time now...

what i wonder is whether this is considered a designer collab and therefore will be higher than the usual h&m pricepoints...
based on all the leathers shown, i am assuming the answer is yes...

Is this just going to be a girls collection? Probably a stupid question since it's called "Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" but I love that kind of look. I will squeeze into those leather jackets if I have to.

Ewwww most of it looks really cheap and specially the leather jacket... Brands like H&M should NEVER work with leather. It is such a waist of skin.
