Hedi Slimane, Creative Director of Saint Laurent

Not happy about this at all. I adore Stefano Pilati. Significantly more than Slimane...

Yeah, I don't read French.

Has it been officially confirmed, or confirmed by journalists?

I'm worried about this. Hedi hasn't done womenswear, and Stefano has been turning wonderful collections for the house.

Now that is an interesting bombshell. I am for sure going to miss Stefano, just wonder what kind of changes Hedi will bring to YSL. I can not wait to see.

Add me to the non-Hedi believers camp. *

I think Stefano has been delivering exciting collections recently for YSL. I'm more affected with this news than Raf leaving Jil Sander.

I will surely miss Stefano's amazing and bright talent at YSL. But Hedi's arrival at the house is surely interesting.

BREAKING: STEFANO PILATI OUT, HEDI SLIMANE IN, AT YSL

As Milan fashion week continues, there's breaking fashion news out of Paris. Agence France Presse has reported that Yves Saint Laurent creative director Stefano Pilati is out at the house. Said to replace him is long-time Dior Homme designer Hedi Slimane.

Slimane helmed Dior Homme from 2000 to 2007 and during that time, he revolutionized the menswear silhouette. (Karl Lagerfeld has said he went on his well-publicized diet to fit into Slimane's unforgivingly-skinny black jeans.) He has since relocated to Los Angeles to focus on photography.

Pilati, who introduced his own ground-breaking silhouette, the much-publicized and highly-influential tulip skirt, in 2004, has for years has been dogged by rumours that he was to be pushed out at YSL. Suzy Menkes of the International Herald Tribune had reported back in September that Raf Simons, who showed his final collection for Jil Sander just this morning, was set to take the reigns at YSL.But the talk had always been proven to be that: talk.

Hmmm.....I don't know if Slimane will do a great women's collection, but will look forward to the new YSL! Hope Pilati goes to a good place, perhaps add an edge to Kenzo or Nina Ricci?

This is exactly why im so not excited (other than loving stefano's work at ysl, both his womenswear and mens collections). Hedi's vision was perfect in that time and place, but i'm so not looking forward his skinny-ess at ysl womenswear.

I still won't believe this till someone from PPR confirms. this feels like when tisci had 'signed' a conctract with dior.

People need to stop worrying until they actually see what Hedi produces. This is no different than all the naysayers that didn't believe in Raf when he took over Jil Sander with no prior experience with womenswear. Dior Homme is not YSL. Hedi is not going to turn it into a rock'n'roll label, like Raf did not turn Jil Sander into a teenage rebellious fashion house.
