YES!
This is exactly what I was waiting for! PPR will be great for Hedi. They have a lot of great talents already-Stefano and Nicolas, specifically, and I think Hedi will fit in just fine.

Yes that's true haha. I can't wait for Slimane's show with Penderecki or Szymanowski as a background music (Well, not really opera, but still...classical).

In fact I've changed my mind concerning PPR, it might be a good choice for him... We still have Richemont but they had very bad experiences in textile and still focus on watches and jewels. Prada was a disaster. Hermès does not want to expand too much. LVMH is Evil. Best option for me is Dries' business. But it might take a long time. If there's something between Gucci and Hedi, then maybe we'll see a show sooner, probably for FW 08-09.

I'm glad about this, I was worried that he may seek private investment and, thus, it would be a long time until the clothes were readily available in the UK etc. Presumably if hes backed by PPR his clothes will be appropriately distributed.

Unless Hedi is paying for his line 100% out of his own pocket then he will NEVER ever have total freedom.

^What? I think many designers want to be in the same position he'll be in right now; he's not "selling out".

Or am I reading that completely wrong?

the hedi slimane- era is over. just like the tom ford-era, just like the helmut lang-era. and he knows it is over. now, he is just trying to ensure his retirement ($)

i would be really surprised if his own label would be so succesful. Besides aging rockstars, I cant see anyone wearing his stuff. The last dior homme-show was so extremely dull and boring, there was no energy, no excitement, nothing.

kris van assche is gonna mess it up at dior, im 100% sure of that. but regarding hedi slimane and his own label, in my opinion its just another label that takes the spot in paris fashion week from an up-and-coming-designer. all just to show the next boring (black or jersey or leather or skinny) collection to hang on the racks in printemps

it is funny that someone mentioned dries and ann somewhere, because i do think someone like hedi should wipe his nose and take example of the true icons.

*but he cant because he needs someone to pay him. because i just read somewhere that dior homme apparently didnt make any profit AT ALL

ok im gonna stop now, its too hot in the city!!!

why is everybody so harsh about kris van assche? we don't even know what he's actually capable of at this juncture. and the hedi era isn't over. he's just moving on....he is still planning to design. i don't know even understand how you can compare him with any of those designers as they were forced to leave their labels....this was hedi's decision to leave. egads, some of you die-hards are really something to behold you make it sound much worse than it actually is.
