here's ANDREA KRÄNZLIN....and i know at first when i saw the catwalk images,it didn't take me,but second look on here,i actually enjoy this now. really interesting how she works with a washington irving-era theme but in such a refreshing colour scheme.

i think this is so cool by ANDREA AYALA CLOSA....blackened out models which i assume are catsuits showcasing this kind of cut & paste work...

i first had a quick look at Philep's blog but now that i see detailed pics , apart from the really excellent show by ANDREA AYALA CLOSA i admit that i find most of the collections very 'heavy handed' and aiming more at 'shocking' than at 'working clothes for real people'

to me, pointless experimentation seems like a thing of the past...
i love new designers whose creations i could actually WEAR

what i've seen is mostly costumes for the theater or even better for the opera

applied design is so much more difficult to achieve

thanks gius & scott for bringing in links and pics

^you know walter is now head of the department....linda loppa left and went to be dean at the school in florence(which i assume is connected as the academy has worked closely with pitti).....so in that,i would expect a continued emphasis on creativity and experimentation and less about i dunno access(i refuse to say commerce as this is not necessarily your point). i agree with you that there should be a balance.....specifically in the final year(as the first, second and third year should be their most experimental) as this is the chance to see what they will eventually do in the real world. but i think the great thing is that all the designers thus far that have graduated even more recently have really been able to transistion themselves from school to serious business. i mean i see mikio sakabe who was brilliant in his final year and was extremely experimental but you see how much he's been able to make more accessible works.

such interesting designs, i really wonder how they develop their ideas
does anyone know what the 'graphics' the final year students have to make are actually for? it's like a mood board, but just a very small piece..

i agree with Lena about being able to wear them
actually i found so much of this year would be wearable for me :p
