I'm getting a mid 00s vibe from this (Fall 2004, Summer 2006), which is a lot to say considering how painfully commercial his collections have been in the last 3 years. Looking forward to the detail shots.

The way he cuts frames over some of the prints is totally amazing and original! LOVED those pieces. The classic cool suiting looks infinitely wearable, too.

mullet,that's exactly what i was thinking too! definitely a continued regained sense of form from last season's gem. it's simple but it's not that commercial stuff we've seen from him in recent years....last season along with this is the purest and most authentic i've seen chalayan in a while.

I'm sure my appreciation of the collection will increase when I hear about Chalayan's conceptual inspiration. Of course it's bound to have some depth behind it. Chalayan without conceptualism would be like ...err...fish without chips. But it's not readily apparent to me what's driving the work - frames?, aprons? All I can see at the moment is that it has a bit of a 60's sci-fi feel. But there must be more to it than that.

after viewing his older collections from earlier this year, i was thinking the exact same thing when I saw these. The references, the random events taking place on the runway, and the interesting cuts combined with beautiful fabric... it all makes you think about what goes on in his head.

i love that he is returning to what I now appreciate him for
