some pieces remind me of a depressed version of marni

this collection doesn't seem as evolved as his previous collections, looks like he made everything in a week..
also the cut of the clothes is a bit awkward.

i do like the neoprene suit and the taffeta looks at the end

Okay, this is the second J.W. Anderson collection thread I've complained in in as many seasons, but I really don't understand anything about J.W. Anderson - his aesthetic, his hype, his way of working.
He uses the same patterns for different garments, which is absolutely fine, everyone in fashion does this, but the idea is to change it just slightly to make a new garment - all Anderson does is change the fabric, and we're not talking something that was structural in leather is now draped in chiffon - it is the same fabric, with a different colour or pattern.
This is a breakdown of this collection:
Looks 2, 3 and 4 are exactly the same outfit.
Looks 1 and 5 are the same.
6 and 7 are the same
8, 9, 10 and 11 are identical.
Look 12 is just a mixture of look 1 and look 8.
13, 14 and 15 are just look 7 with trousers.
16 is the same as 20.
17, 18 & 19 are the same.
21, 22 and 23 are the same jacket, varied with trousers and a skirt.
24 and 25 are the same.
26, 27 and 28 are exactly the same.

That means that there are only 11 different looks in this 28 look collection. In fact, the only garment that isn't repeated at least once (stitch for stitch apart from the fabric colour) is look 22's frill-edged skirt.
I mean, the top in look 8 (9, 10, 11...) is from a pattern in his winter collection:

Not to mention that some of the garments look poorly constructed and it looks as if he's moved on barely an inch from last season.
I know it sounds like I'm picking on him, I know he's a new designer, and I even feel guilty for picking on a fellow "up-and-coming" British designer, but with what I feel is a lot of hype surrounding his name, I really think he's very overrated.

I like the pinstriped pieces and that krinklely fabric at the end, too. It may not be great, but it's not bad at all imo.
