Ugh...I *MUST* have every piece in this collection. I am surprised she picked up where Raf left off, and did even better than he did! Younger, cooler, impeccable, immaculate tailoring...and those bi-colour boots....!!! It's the child from the DNA of Courreges, Balenciaga, Raf Simons and of course Jil Sander...Bravo, simply stunning!!
although i adore raf i wasn't as drawn to what he did at jil sander. this for me is the purest essence of jil sander....and unlike under prada control, this jil sander designed work feels like jil being free and limitless....as we remembered her best.
and btw,juicemajor....i cannot agree with you more. to be honest, simplicity can often be deceptive to what lies beneath and jil is a master craftswoman....an immaculate tailor.....in my view along the lines of yohji in that sense.
I did love what Raf did but Jil understands and cuts womenswear like the palm of her hand. I love the mood of this, I actually don't see pressure.. at least not the kind of pressure seen in her previous collection (2005), this has such a positive vibe, modesty, the energy of someone that really wants to do this again, and confidence. Nice to see things fall back into place in fashion for once.
What a sad collection. She has no youth in her. Everything that Jil ever was is in Celine now. But the difference is that Celine does it better. Her style and her taste hasn't been relevant since the 90s. Minimalism has changed now and I don't think she can go along with it. And saying that this is better than what Raf Simons did for the brand truly is an insult. He pushed this brand further along than she frankly ever could.

I can't lie, this collection doesn't make me uneasy with excitement, but it is a marvelous collection nonetheless. Where it lacks in excitement it makes up for, many times over, with craftsmanship and execution. Even from the first smaller photos you can see that these pieces were made by a true master. This collection did exactly what Jil needed it to do, reintroduce her as the peerless tailor she is.
