OK, I am going to do a mea culpa here... kinda sorta. Normally I try not to be influenced by the designers comments, but I am buying what Alber is selling. First of all Alber acknowledges that this is a heritage collection, which is code for recycling old hits, and acknowledgment goes a long way with me, and also there is nothing wrong with re-introducing, refining or taking another swing at something that you've done before, not every collection has to be brand new stuff.

Now he really sold me with the gazar statements and I buy that he basically wanted to hold the design aspect constant and work with the fabric. I can see why he wants to take on this fabric because it holds color well and it moves and for these reasons opens up more possibilities for the Lanvin woman; it is not shiny, so I can see it being used to create clothes that are sophisticated and colorful, and yet not stray into cheap, princess or bridesmaid territory.

I like the staging of the show, I the atmospherics of the tree and the black looks, but I think that that segment of the show went on for too long, only to be relieve by a pale one shoulder gown and a red cocktail dress, thus giving a mass market feel to the collection.

All right, I give up. I just can't not adore it.

As much as I'm not keen of few moments here, like the lace pieces or the polka dot dress, it's all so gorgeous. I'm just head over heels in love with the austere opening pieces (the coat on Monika is brilliant), especially with the hats. I was already loving them at the menswear show, and I'm particularly glad he kept them for womenswear, they create such an amazing atmosphere. And then we have the final bouquet of gazar dresses, which are so perfectly draped and cut, that I just cannot help re-watching the video to see them.

And speaking of atmosphere, I really appreciate the tree and the show's mood now. In fact, I see a lot of sense in Alber speaking of a tree and it's roots. It's like a perfect trip into the archives, with this look in particular. With many beautiful outfits presented, this remains the most striking ensemble of the whole show for me. I know I may be repeating myself, but it feels 120 % of Alber for me, his love and magic he brought for Lanvin

They really shouldn't have changed the video company, it's so short and quick you can't even get the mood.

That video is the best!

Who knew Meisel has such a brilliant sense of humor??? The silliness, the candidness, the awkwardness of the guys having absolutely no sense of rhythm, the shameless dorkiness of Alber, the overall and complete lack of pretension, the girls just letting loose, the use of that awful Pitbull track. Simply perfection.

Love.

srsly, Alber should just do a dance performance with models/dancers instead of a regular fashion show next month.

I didn't know that Racquel and Karen can be party animals! They look really funny and fashionable at the same time.

Putting the advertising video aside and coming back to the collection itself, I'm developing quite an obsession with it recently. I've been watching the show at least once per day and each time there's something new or at least a little detail that makes me fall for it again and again.

I absolutely love the fact Alber ditched embellishments this season and focused on a total simplicity of cutting and draping finishing the pure forms with jewelled touch, just like he did for F/W 06. Also, the python dress on Ginta is fantastic, such a brilliant idea for an autumn collection!
