I noticed we don't have a thread for this, so thought I'd start one ...

softgrey mentioned she saw the complete collection and promised us an update, so I thought I would make a place for her to put it

There are a couple pix in Bazaar accompanying the lovely interview with Alber that I haven't seen anywhere on the 'net. One is a lovely, blousey, kinda pale blue-green wrinkley artist smocky SS top over what looks to be a fullish navy skirt. The other is a brown ensemble, dress w/ jacket, vertical twist of fabric kinda where you would otherwise wear a necklace. (Descriptions from memory ...)

smock-y is a good word for it...
more tailored than his lanvin collections have been...
but still voluminous and with a lovely 'crinkled'....
i've been hunting for butterflies and i just rolled around in a meadow look...
except the lanvin girl is probably hunting for dragonflies...


accessorised with lovely insect jewelry...
large beetles, spiders and other slightly 'dark' winged creatures...
sort of 'scientific'...

**reminds me of his work at YSL in many ways...

so this skirt is pretty nice too ...






adore these sleeves ... this goes with the first Bazaar ensemble in terms of mood and probably inspiration

Interesting about the jewelry ... kind of a Victorian/Edwardian influence there perhaps ... young ladies in smocks outside doing all their "accomplished" activities ... painting, innocently collecting and impaling big bad bugs ... on large straight pins

You know, I have actually had a lot of dragonflies in my backyard lately. And bluebottles, even a wicked looking praying mantis Never saw a dragonfly back there till this year ... I think I will leave them alone though

PS I'm also kind of reminded of a French artists' colony ... by the looser clothes ...

but it's not at all retro...it's very modern...a new take on the theme...

i think it could go a lot of ways depending on how it's styled...
i could see that too without the 'bugs'...
and maybe some different hats...big floppy berets perhaps?...

there is also a safari element to it though...
it's definitely 'in touch with nature'...

and there's no real 'colour'...
there is some olive (there is an amazing olive cotton dress that i really really ) ...
and more navy (a gorgeous one shoulder navy satin dress)...
in addition to the prominent use of blk and a slightly off white...

i really need to look at it some more...
it just makes me happy...

brilliant, thanks for starting this thread.

first of all, love the styling of these cruise photos, the hats are superb. designers should really put more effort into their cruise collection presentation.

love the colors and the discussion them. navy is delicious and love the sort of 'dark' nature themes and the french artist colony description is so inspiring....

I love the styling too. A lot actually. The hats look great for starters. And the clothes just match perfectly. The clothes themself look great as well. I like the trousers best I think. Thanks for posting

Glad you like ... this collection really speaks to me Maybe the most beautiful work Alber has ever done ... His draping is amazing. Just looked again at the photo of the smock blouse in Bazaar ... both the color and the sleeves are almost beyond description.

Definitely a watery color like I believe I've seen Lena describe in the color forecast thread ... kind of a really lovely washed out aqua. The pre-washed crinkles in the fabric also give it a beautifully old-fashioned feel. Open portrait kind of collar with a fairly large brooch pinning the front and the sleeves ... are to the elbow and kind of very softly trumpety ... fall in folds ... a bit like curtains actually. Reminds me that one of the inspirations for his fall collection was a red velvet theater curtain ... maybe Scarlett wasn't so far wrong Also reminds me of Edwardian school girl clothes for teenagers ... somewhere I have some books from that era, 1913-15 or so, a series, and this reminds me of what they wore ...

If he has equalled or surpassed this for spring, I may swoon ... someone catch me
