^ .... no offense but who really wants to hear "LC's" tips on fashion? She's just someone who made it big on a reality show and honestly the only thing that I would wear from her collection is the Katherine Wrap... and I don't think she has very much style...

Lauren Conrad Collection may be coming to L.A. Fashion Week. Smart move on her part. I don't think she has the east coast support she needs to do New York.

http://www.pagesix.com/story/lauren+runway+ready

Quote:
Having spent the past few years working behind the scenes at fashion shows has clearly whet Lauren Conrad's appetite because The Hills starlet is ready to step into the sartorial spotlight! "It’s 99 percent for sure I’m going to do a fall fashion show," she told the Chicago Sun-Times and Lauren has taken the first steps toward accomplishing her dreams.

An IMG Fashion spokesperson has confirmed to PageSix.com that Lauren has inquired about showing her line, the Lauren Conrad Collection, at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in LA in March. But she might have to fight for her right to debut, because Lee Trimble, the Fashion Director of Gen Art, one of the leading platforms for emerging artists, told PageSix.com, “We would absolutely be excited to consider Lauren’s line for inclusion in our fall fashion show.”

And while the powers that be haven't begun the selection process yet, Lauren would be following in some seriously famous footsteps if she were to be accepted.

Zac Posen, one of the most in-demand designers working with young, hot Hollywood today first showed off his clothes at 2001’s Gen Art festival while Jay McCarroll had a Gen Art runway show before going on to win the first season of Project Runway. On the flip side, Jennifer Lopez rocked the runway with her Sweet Face line at debut at Fashion Week in New York in 2005, while Nicky Hilton worked the West Coast when she unveiled her Chick line this year.

And since the selection committees for both organizations plan to hold Lauren’s designs to the same standards regardless of her fame, it’s a good thing she isn't just designing for kicks. "I'm serious about my lines and I do them as a designer and not as someone on a reality show," she said. "I wanted to create a brand that will last longer than my TV series."

Oddly that might be her hardest hurdle to, um, hurdle since The Hills has been picked up for a fourth season and still ranks as one of MTV's most popular programs.
If Nicky Hilton's horrid Chick line was allowed to show, I don't think Lauren will have a problem since her line is much better IMO.

I agree, apart from the warp part...I'd never spend money on anything in her collection. It's stupid, I mean fair enough if she had style to begin with but for those who watched Laguna Beach...it was pretty horrendus. Gross flip flops, unfattering jeans and tacky tops. Its annoying that some people work really hard at school to achieve the goal (and they very rarely do) and because she's on a reality show, she has a line- it would never happen that quickly, so ridiuclous.

As has been pointed out --yet ignored--repeatedly, Lauren is a fashion student who has been working towards "the goal" by toiling at fashion related occupations for 4-5 years. If it is true that other students "very rarely" achieve a fashion line that makes Lauren all the more smart for taking advantage of the opportunity to jumpstart her career. I'm sure most students would do the same.

But that doesn't change the fact that she cannot design and her line is full of crap that looks like it belongs at your local wal*mart.

...nor does it change the fact that she is pursuing her dream, getting paid for it and there is not much all the whining and complaining will do to stop her.

No, it wasnt ignored, it was just disregarded because it's ridiculous. I'm not even sure she's been at college long enough to learn all of the credentials needed and also, that has nothing to do with it. Hers is a line like Hilary Duffs & Amanda Bynes- they didnt do a fashion course either. They just pop up in the space of a few months, these girls with cheesy, cheap fast-fashion lines. And, seriously, if this is her talent, it doesnt say much. The clothes arent inventive or original, just playing on her name in order to make money

I have to say I'm quite surprised at this collection. I didn't expect her to come out with any designs worth admiring or buying. And true who stuff has similiar styles of Forever 21, but hopefully her quality is much better than Forever 21, who clothes after a few washes are "dunzo"

^ Yeah I still want to know about the quality. I really wonder if it is long-lasting or wash and toss.

I'm curious to know too.

I really do not like the collection though. It's so drab for her first one. I see some good basics, but the line overall is nothing special in my opinion.

I realize that she is a fashion student but I'm sure that some of the people who gain admission into fashion school lack the talent to translate that education into something bigger and better. I don't think that she has talent as a designer and this is, as Lacroix put it, a play on her name to make money.

I have purchased two things - the scarf and the London top.

I absolutely adore the London top. If the other sizes run like this top, they run a little bit large. But the feel of the fabric is great. Soooo soft. And it washes just fine. Did not fade or thin out or anything (I got it in navy). It is very good quality in my honest opinion. Good quality for the money. The scarf is very cute, but it is a "thin" so to speak. But nonetheless very cute.

So I was happy with what I got, but I am waiting on the spring collection to get anything else. I have worn this top about three times now and absolutely love it. I would love a dress that feels/wears like this.

Unfortunately, that is true.
I just don't think she deserves this, when millions of students (with actual talent!) are working so hard to make their dreams happen.

Lauren Conrad showing at Mercedes Benz? Can there BE a more crystal-clear sign that LA Fashion Week is dead in the water?

sad. For a few years it really seemed like the industry was picking up here, but lately... and especially if LAUREN CONRAD shows....
