I don't have anything against her coming out with a line...but I find this stuff really ugly and unflattering to be honest...

^I agree, i dont' really like any of the stuff she's got out, it's very unflattering and quite expensive. why can't she design more stuff that reflects what she wears?

wow thanks for the screencaps and descriptions, Madhuri!
It's nice to know she's actually involved in every step, from sketching to fitting, and everything else...... still doesn't justify the prices though haha

I like the fact that the show actually shows Lauren reviewing fabric samples and being v. hands on but how much does she really do off camera?

It's a cute idea naming the clothes after her loved ones but it's a bit pricey for me. You can get (almost) the same thing at H&M.

So am I! It's like everything is so....drapey, but in a bad way, it all just hangs. I do like the Audrina dress though.

THANK YOU!!!!

seriously, looking at this ladies sketches and next to near nothing in regards to fit or pattern making skills from those sketches, if she hadn't gotten hooked up with MTV, she'd be another fashion design school student who hasn't a clue how to draft a pattern or sew after she graduated. this is sad. this actually pi$$es me off more than anything that people with next to no talent can get this far with petty popularity, b**** fights with other blondes and a psuedo internship/ career as a stylist...... how many pukies can i use!

in so much as lauren saying "oooh i like this color fabric, this is soft.." and "see, if you tie a bow here it makes up for the lack of my fitting skills, see?" and a few brown-nosers to agree with her......

....i did a design thing with teen vogue, and it's one big disgusting popularity game to see how much bull**** they can put you through and maintain your loyalty. you keep kissing their butts, they keep stringing you along...but if you defy them, boy oh boy they dont like that! and that's how connections are made and broken...

An article from the OC register where Lauren discusses her line

http://www.ocregister.com/life/laure...-clothing-line

Quote:
The Lauren Conrad collection is filled with slinky jersey dresses and flowy tops, and each piece looks exactly like something Conrad would wear either to the beach or out to dinner – and that's exactly what she intended. She said she decided to use her name for the label because all the fashion designers she admired, like Phillip Lim, Diane Von Furstenberg, Marc Jacobs and Cynthia Vincent – had clothing collections in their names, too.

Each garment in her collection is named after a friend, so there are dresses named after her "Hills" co-stars, like the Audrina and the Whitney.

"The clothes really fit my personality. I like comfortable, beachy clothes that can also be dressed up, too."

Moving from Laguna Beach to Hollywood has influenced and changed her style a bit. In high school, Conrad said, girls lived in Juicy Couture sweats and designer handbags.
"O.C. is definitely a lot more casual and label-oriented," she said. "I used to wear only tanks and jeans but now I love dressing more girlie and wearing more dresses. There's a lot more mixing it up in L.A., more of an anything-goes style."

Churning out her own line of apparel was a "really cool" process that she said allowed her to use what she's been learning at the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising, where she's majoring in product development, and what she's picked up while interning at Teen Vogue.

"You realize you have to do 40 pieces and it's overwhelming but then you have to stop and handle one piece at a time," Conrad said.

She said she spent a lot of time shopping to get ideas and to think about what fabrics to use. When Conrad was asked how hands-on she was, Sherry Wood, creative director for the fashion line, eagerly answered for her:

"She did all the sketches. … she was at every single fitting, from deciding on the labels to the hang tags. She was involved every step of the way."

And, Conrad added, laughing, "I was the fit model for every piece. That saved us money."

She also said she's aware of the opportunities and doors that have opened because of the show. MTV has partnered with Conrad for her fashion line for two years. After that, she said, the line will belong exclusively to her.

"Right now, I'm just trying to build up the brand and build up the image," she said. "The real test will be whether women out there who will buy my clothes."

Her ultimate dream?

"It would be amazing to someday show my clothing on the runways in New York."

Considering her "reality" show has different takes to get the shot right , all these images of her choosing fabric and swatches etc are probably just to try and fend off the doubters who presume that she doesn't have any input. I'm not persuaded.

If her prior internships and current attendence at Fashion school isn't enough to persuade someone of her credibility as an aspiring designer then I don't think she should worry about trying.
