i love the yarn piece with the gold and the ribboned trench jacket....two really gorgeous pieces. but i have to say compared with previous it's probably not his best artisanal.

well i had no idea the plastic bag dresses were lined with silk taffeta and everytyhin but still..
the balloon vest is impressive when you think about the prescicison involved in twisting those together

I hate it. I understand how much work goes into making these pieces, but I still absolutely hate it.

Sorry folks, but this time "my favourite piece comments" are not allowed. It sounds so facile and simplistic. This collection is amazing. For more conceptual palates than in other ocassions but beatiful to cry. Can't you appreciate the "hanger dress" or the "sweater twist"? If you have any question about this collection, please, write to me and I will try to answer.

thanks for posting...
really not going to be seeing this stuff on the street...
but as an extension of the original MMM concept...it's always compelling...

looks a bit sloppy and lazy compared to usual.

Plastic bag bodice? Tinsel and blow up balloons? Not the high level of skill or ingenuity I was hoping for.

I'm a bit miffed as I feel as if he's mocking us somewhat..... The yarn piece is great though.

Too odd...even by HC standards.

I’ve been waiting for this collection for days and days; what can I say? I highly respect MMM. Though, I’m not left floored with amazement nor overwhelmed with aesthetic and artificial beauty MMM does what he does best: incorporation of a message into each piece (not a surprise).

Obviously, this collection is made of recyclables. Obviously, we’re going through a recession of the sorts. Obviously, we’re making a high-stand by encouraging “green” as the way to live now.

There’s a cost to everything. Though I’m not one to speak, I think it’s safe for me to say that designing Haute Couture pieces and collections is not a light investment. That being said, I’m glad MMM took a different approach to his haute couture designs – there seems to be better things we can do right now for our economy than to spend ridiculous amounts on fashion. And I have considered the irony that these pieces will be worth grands.

So yes, I do think the balloon vest is a little ridiculous, and I also believe that it’s possible to make a plastic bag look better (at least Lanvin’s F/W09 stylistic approach – though not truly a plastic bag… still looks the part). I also know that MMM is a brilliant designer; so while these pieces are not what I consider to be something that sparkles off the page to tickle my fancy, but still something to admire with an endearing eye, I can’t help but to respect the guy even more now.

Of course, this is only my 2 cents.

see for me it feels half-hearted....just doesn't resonate with me. not the same level of substance, integrity or the intelligence of the previous collections. in fact there's something rather gimmicky about the balloons and tinsel ribbon especially seeing that this his anniversary this year.

at first i was like what... but taking it all in i actually really like this. it's stripping fashion down to its bare minimum. the work is in the process not the finished product. This isn't any less of a collection than any other.
