The Regent Street branch have loads of the red dresses left (didn't see sizes), I also returned my plexi-wedges for the same reasons others have mentioned.

I may take another look when items make the sale.

I wanted plexi wedges so bad, but didn't make it to the store, so I'm kinda relieved tbh.

Does anyone know how to tell the difference between the mens white sneakers and the womens ones? I managed to grab the last pair in the shop, they're too big for me though so might take them back but I'm a bit confused know

The sizing sometimes differs with H&M shoes, so a women's six doesn't run one size smaller than a man's seven... if that makes sense. Usually it's mostly the width they alter between men's and women's, you'll find the women's much narrower around the ball of the foot area.

Went to Westfield today and called into the store there to see what was left - they've restocked the red dresses and so now it looks like only the clutches, cashmere jumpers and mirror ball leggings are actually all gone. Everything else is there.

^ Is that the White City Westfield?

I'm gonna take the watch back on Tuesday and might exchange it for something. The watch just doesn't look good on my wrist and just spins around as I can't get it tight enough my stupid wrists.

Yeah, those were the press gifts given at the press day and also at the pre-launch event.

Press day this time I got a tote bag shaped like a carrier bag, a hard back note book and a sheet of the magnets they sold. At the prelaunch event we got the same except no magnets, and a bag of white Margiela marshmallows instead.

I've got myself white painted jeans and darted jacket even though I had though I wouldn't buy anything. The collection is surprisingly good looking in real life!

I just purchased the ballet flats. Just from wearing them at the store, they are true to size and comfortable. I love them! I wanted the sneakers but they looked cheap.

I only just realized the shearling jacket isn't actually shearling, it's fake!

Quote:
DESCRIPTION
MAISON MARTIN MARGIELA. Inside-out coat in suede and fake fur with raw edges, buttons and pockets at the front, and a vent at the back.
DETAILS
70% polyester, 30% modacrylic. Specialist clean only
Art.No. 81-2463
How can it be suede and yet be 70% polyester?

I've been deliberately apprehensive to adding more personal posts to this thread.

I stayed away for a while from here....just to see what the overall viewpoints would be from others, through time.

One of my first posts to this thread was on page 3 or 4...not sure, but I'm certain they're there.

Going through and reading 31 pages of individual posts and comments has been an exhaustive process...but considerably entertaining....and informative.

I joined TFS in the year 2004....but I've been collecting MMM pieces since the year 1990. Trust me....I'm nor MMM rookie, or newbie. My profile name is quite obvious and keen to this particular post.

I've had the opportunity to view the look-book from the H&M collaboration...with MMM.

To be honest with myself...and to others on this post...i must admit that the collection is not as bad as I had anticipated.

I already knew that the quality of fabrics and the company of manufacture would not....and could not....be compared with "authentic" MMM pieces. This collaboration is more-or-less fashion for the masses, but regardless.

No pretentiousness. here. I wear authentic MMM pieces....and I also LOVE thrift stores and Salvation Army/Goodwill stores. If I like something I see...regardless of where it's from or where it's made...I will buy it. As they say now-a-days..."it's ALL good."

In some regards...I do find the hype about all the celebrity publicity to bee considerably funny....and.....contradictory to MM esthetic.

I find it hysterical that so many people truly care....or are influenced... about what Kanye is wearing...or Sarah Jessica Parker, amongst others. I personally don't know Kanye or any other celebrity in the H&M/Margiela launch.....and I don't need a celebrity to inspire fashion sensibility. i truly don't care WHAT...or WHO...they wear. I think it might have been truer to the Margiela spirit if the celebrities showed up for the launch with their faces.....covered. It would have made a more poignant statement....and also....a keener perspective....about the commercial world we all live in.

Margiela never cared to advertise his face to the public. He was obscure....elusive....and in truth to his spirit...he was proud to be...."An Absolute, Nobody."

I personally own MANY old-school MMM pieces....and I do actually like "some" of the collaborative pieces from MMM/H&M.

Seeing the H&M pieces does bring back plenty of nostalgia for me.

I realize how lucky I was to be onto Margiela many, many years ago. Others were and are not...as fortunate as me, today.

I knew the Duvet-Coat wouldn't be as up-to-par with the MMM Duvet coat I own, personally. When I purchased the duvet coat.....other coverings could be bought separately....to put ONTO the coat. I purchased a heavy plastic duvet cover that could be worn to maket the duvet waterproof....and another duvet cover with an over-dyed floral pattern. Marketing the MMM version of the duvet coat....in the same way for H&M...would have been too ambitious.

I do like how they took some pieces from the artisinal collection from MMM...and used them as an inspiration for the H&M collection.

The "sock-sweater" was a miserable failed attempt on H&M's behalf....BUT....the men's "leather-belt-vest" is quite good, actually....i/m/o.

The over-sized pieces are considerably good, too. At the time when Margiela first presented the "over-sized"....it looked so strange...but in a fun way. Seeing the direction where fashion is at right now.....it truly goes to show how very far ahead of fashion Margiela was, for his time. He made that collection at a time in fashion where everything then... was considerably fitted and tight. In true Margiela spirit...he inspired the polar opposite....of tight and fitted.
