For me, this is probably THE worst Marc Jacobs collection ever.

And furthermore, I can't see how any woman would want to pay thousands of dollars for something like this. Especially given the economic climate this collection just seems a bit self-indulgent for Marc. I'd expect women to invest in more timeless, classic pieces. Seasonless clothes. This looks very trendy and very of-the-moment; so I can't see the immediate appeal.

Besides this is just messy and it seems disorganized. Theres no unity throughout and everything looks forced and pretentious.

That's a big statement considering we've only seen a handful of images.

Perhaps the fact that it isn't timeless, classic and safe is it's appeal. Anyone who wears any of these pieces is bound to feel good because they are fun and lighthearted.

Honestly I think that's the key to recession proof fashion, because fashion serves exactly the same purpose as movies and music do during times of crisis, it's an escape, a way to forget and a way to pick yourself up...even if it's only fleeting. I think that Marc was at least smart to remember that much.

And I definitely disagree with you about the 80's being a horrible time for fashion. It was anything but unflattering and unfeminine. Everyone remembers the huge shoulders, but really it was all about creating a tiny, insanely hourglass waist.
