I snuck into the show tonight. I was my first fashion show and it was a lot of fun. Pandemonium outside and before the show. Very cool vibe and the clothing was great. I'd post pictures but I'm sure you guys will get the best quality shots imaginable. I must say, for a guy, I was top 10 dressed in the building. All in all a really fun night.

I feel the same way. Even the Marc Jacobs collections I hated (and there were many!) were striking. I can understand other criticisms, but I just don't think "forgettable" is valid.

this is soooo good...
i love the dichotomy of the modern set against the clothing...
and the clothes!!! i love the tapestry skirts and the colors...

some of it reminds me of the way my grandmother used to dress, wearing her apron over her clothes...

I don't recall much about his stuff. They all look like something I can find at the mall or vintage stores or young Hollywood wearing. I do remember that one of his collections looked like something an old lady would wear.

A fashion DJ, mixing and matching, ripping and scratching. I prefer it when he goes grit. This is almost too ready, makes me wonder what'll he pull at Vuitton, usually the more polished of his girls. Steady styling helps keep the hodge podge together. There's a print for all seasons, fake lengths and shapes synchronized to to mask the myriad of options for the buyers. All in all: no tricks up his sleeves. Up his skirt might be another story...

^ but doesn't he seem like the recent seasons he is interchanging the two... doing messy work at louis vuitton while doing more polished things for his own label...

it was the other way around before

I might be the only one, but I hate the collection!
I loved his previous ones that everyone else hated so..

But this one here- there is nothing new, I've seen it all and if you throw everything on at once, it doesn't make it new. I looked through these pictures almost 10 times and tried to imagine what individual pieces I would like and I think there was one bag and one skirt, but that's it, this is not much especially taking into account that this time most of the outfits consisted of 3-4 pieces.

mmmmaybe. Even when it got as messy as a food fight for s/s08, Vuitton looked more fantasy while it seemed more offhanded in New York. And certainly for the now season, there is an aggressive sense of luxury in Paris while the girls are demure and ironic ('Hardcore' and pastels, anyone?) for his own label. There always seems to be a bit of a step up somehow from Jacobs to Vuitton. I'm not quite sure how he'll do it here without simply tackling a different set of references because this seems really polished, like good silver. This girl feels artistic, she's maybe a future patron of the arts but she just sits on her money for now (except at the boutique), smokes the same brand of cigarettes that her mother smoked, drinks only the red stuff and nothing from California, honey. Maybe she'll mix this stuff up with her Van Noten, who knows...

bravo! another great show in NYFW!

I like the way he combined so many elements into the collection.the fabrics of the dresses looks very rich and flamboyant. The silhouettes looks AGAIN a bit strong(a tribute to YSL?) But have his own understanding to the 21 century's women. I have to say I'm not a big fan of this collection's color palette and the stripes pieces, they looks a bit tacky somehow for me.

Anyway,I'm really into the retro feeling of the whole collection which reminds me Prada 03/04 fall.

Much better than his former seasons.

^^^ i know what you mean about everything being thrown together not being new, but i think the way in which marc executed it is what makes the collection interesting.

i like the way he mixed japanese and grunge styles, bold colors, feminine shapes, glittery fabrics, etc.

also, while there aren't many individual pieces you would own, i see this selling very well. i know i'll buy some of it. and just because someone doesn't see anything they would purchase, i don't think that serves as a basis on whether or not the collection is any good. there are a lot of designers i love but don't buy anything from because their style is not my style.

anyhow, i just wanted to throw my two cents in.

This collection is fantastic.
So much better than stuff he has done in the last 4 seasons. I'm starting to really like him again...
