I'd say his best simple collection was his Fall 10.11 collection. For me, it's hard to take this seriously because I thought he had such a spectacular F/W 12.13 collection. I never expect over the top extravaganza from Marc but this is by far too subtle and the stripe thing is probably by far the biggest eye-sore for me. I will say the dresses and gowns were nice but like S/S 12 for me this will not be memorable....shame.

When I saw the thread title I unenthusiastically clicked on it expecting a parade of ugly looks, but I rather like it. I like the crop tops and bottomless looks, I don't care for the looks with the ruffled collars. I really like the dresses with the curvy stripes. At first I did not like the closing dresses after the curvy, striped dresses but they are growing on me.

God this is beautiful <3

I find it to be the perfect balance of cute and cartoonish to the point where it gives this constrained wacky fun vibe.

Like a perfect and serene image where something is off but you can't quite put your finger on what it is.

The first half sucks but the second half is amazing. He always takes elements of the past but energizes them in such a modern way, he is soo brilliant at that.

That jumpsuit on Bochert is beautiful.

I do agree about that first half of the show - really don't like it. In the second half - there are pretty fine dresses at least. But, in my opinion this is still very uninspired collection from Marc. Disappointed.

Really, really lovely.

While I might need a while to get familiar with the stripes like I did with the dots few seasons ago, and I don't necessarily feel like the maxi-length dresses, I love the silhouette and the 60's feeling in general, it's all simply beautiful.

Adding the most delicious hair & make-up, soundtrack and casting, the whole show felt just so right for me, I'm already tempted to watch the runway video again. And again.

Is 'no' a feeling? Because I'm feeling it here.

i have an issue with those shiny fabrics, the op-art and the eye popping stripes, not a strong collection (usually i love Marc..)

I really like this collection. I think it is fun and clever (I would get into it more, but don't have time right now to post a full comment. Basically, the idea behind this is Marc at his best), but I cannot love it because of how poorly made many of the pieces appear. I am literally at a loss for how slapdash some of the construction looks. I hope these issues get resolved when it's made for retail.

It has been a long time since I have liked a Marc Jacobs collection, so as much as I am pleased to like this one, I am disappointed that I cannot love it in good faith.

A sexuality fraught with political tension?
He holds tight to what excites him: Stephen Sprouse and his Scan Lines work from the late 70s, fascination and/or sympathy with drug addled falls from grace, a solid ambivalence about fashion's relationship with 'erogenous zones', Perry Ellis' easy, breezy way of presenting a collection (though this is getting relegated more and more to Marc by Marc). What we've been seeing for the past few seasons is a couture like strictness to a line, some silhouette, a few colors which allows what I've always felt is his greatest strength to shine more brightly: emotion.

Marc and his design team are best, not at making clothes, but at exploring the emotions behind what a woman wearing such an outfit might or might not be feeling. There is such an aggression in these almost tribal lines that demarcate and, again, in the McQueen-esque stretching of the torso. One would be wrong in assuming he's simply championing yet another pretty, simple girl, all bark and no bite, someone whose kindness could be mistaken for simplicity. The 'lines' are most definitely drawn in a time where a woman's body and what she chooses to do with it has such political overtones.

Some interesting parallels could be drawn between this, his Hardcore of Fall '11, the Beautiful & the Bored from Fall '07, Sprouse-o-Rama of 2003 ...
