I'm so pleasantly surprised by this collection. It's better than anything he's ever done before, IMO. I love the cut outs and the sheer parts. I normally don't like his use of color but it looks really nice here.
I thought it was a gorgeous collection. The silhouettes were very fluid and he handlded asymmetric cuts in a way that I found very interesting and sharp. And those slashes of print and sheer were rad but in controlled and elegant manner. The hairstyle was a bit of a turn-off initially but at the end of the presentation it made sense to me, with color scheme used in this show.
The long, broad-shouldered, slim silhouette of his jackets is gorgeous and I feel may be good representatives of a new take on an 'eighties trend that has been threatening to come through since it last went out.
The central red section of the collection really spoke to me and though Rodarte's collages seemed to have got lost and poked their heads up through this endlessly more refined bubble, I always appreciate Narciso's quality, his experimentation but also his dedication to his own aesthetic.
I do try to just stay away from some of the dull staples of the American scene - Kors, DVF, Marchesa, Herrera, DK and the like. Too much negativity isn't good for the soul. And they're really easy targets. But this guy - sections of the mainstream fashion press somehow seem to think he's cool. HE. IS. NOT. A. GOOD. DESIGNER.
This collection is like a fish on the deck of a boat. Jumping about all over the place; distressing anyone who sees it; needing to be put out of it's misery.
You can see what he's trying to do - he's trying to be edgy and elegant all at the same time. Like Haider Ackermann manages so well. But Rodriguez - epic fail. It's neither.
I mean, for instance, look at that jacket top right @ post 3. The thing with..no, I'm not even going to..who in their right mind..
Seriously, those who think this is good, what demographic do you think would wear this travesty? Tiansofine it seriously is absolutely not the same demographic as Proenza.
^ It's all about matter of opinion. Not liking a designer or a collection is one thing, but to dismiss it as a 'travesty' is another thing. In my opinion, he's proven himself as a designer and still designs better than some of the newer designers some people like to fawn over coughAlexanderWangcough.
I actually think this is an amazing collection. I love the different prints and patterns and interesting cuts he used to make the beautiful shilouttes. Great collection

This is such a pleasant surprise after the disappointing shows today. One of the strongest collections out of NY. The draping, color palette, and execution was exceptional! I hope this will help renew his relevancy after a few lackluster collections over the past few years. Bravo!

10/10 for this collection , flattering trousers, great dresses and no gym inspired crap.
