i have so much love for donatella versace and it's funny and scary at the same time how many people hate her and what she does. she's the celebrity by herself, that's true. but it doesn't seem she wanted it to be that way. she's not the one who creates an idol of herself. she was forced to take this place and there's a real tragedy behind her and that's the way things happened in her life and i can't understand why people should be so mean. it's obvious she's more about being a musing, a face of the house, not the actual designer who makes sketches and drapes the fabrics.
versace is an empire and i bet not the worst one. it has it's own history, it's own identity, it's own aesthetic. it's rather strange everyone's happy with valentino and armani doing exactly the same things for decades but criticizing versace for staying true to its origins. maybe versace is not the most innovative and cutting edge brand but there's still a room for everyone and i guess it's rather great that people who love it can get it.

I really adore the Versace family. First I felt in love with Gianni´s design, then with Donatella´s. They are genius. They made dreams come true. I would love to work for them, doesn´t matter what.
