OSSIE CLARK will return to the high street next year, following a concession deal with Debenhams. The iconic British brand of the Sixties and Seventies will be reinvented under the name Ossie Clark London - and will feature a mixture of new designs alongside a limited run of previously unreleased and remastered vintage pieces.
The concessions will appear in 45 Debenhams stores across the UK from February 2013. The first collection will feature 95 items priced between £49 and £189, designed and curated by the label's creative director, Nicholas Georgiou.
"Ossie Clark was one of the most influential and talented designers, not just in the UK but worldwide," said Georgiou in a press release. "Ossie Clark London looks to the present and beyond, benefitting from modern materials and new printing techniques but still retaining the flavour of Ossie's original designs."
The new range will revive Clark's world-renowned prints - mixed with fluid silhouettes and asymmetric cuts, plus plenty of the brand's signature flowing sleeves, plunging necklines and use of draping.** The label was briefly relaunched for three seasons back in 2008, but was closed due to "market conditions". vogue.uk

Was the line relaunch in 2008 at a much higher price point? This new iteration seems much more commercial and affordable.

the vintage ossie clark garments still sell for thousands on ebay. i've never seen one at a reasonable price... and of course ive never stumbled onto one at a vintage shop either...

the relaunch a couple years ago was expensive also. too rich for my blood.

the good thing about the debenham items is that they usually end up on ebay right after going on sale for much cheaper than retail. i expect to pay 50% off.

If Biba at House of Fraser is anything to go by, it means watering down to extremely commercial clothes only vaguely relevant to the namesake.
