Great choices, but I'm especially surprised by the Raf Simmons I see here. Somehow I've always considered him a goofball with no real sense of proportions, but I might've been wrong... Looks very promising to me!
i've seen his stuff, it's been hit or miss so far. i am looking forward to ann demeulemeester's collection very much. dior homme looked very good on the runway as well. raf's collection looked good, especially the knitwear (not sure about the jackets - they are nice to look at on the runway, but to wear them...). mcqueen's collection looked interesting, although he's not my cup of tea as far as wearing it (but i can appreciate it). carol christian poell is not doing a collection, so that's a bummer. and i bet $1 mil that junya's seemingly unexciting collection has some fantastic pieces to offer.
ann demeulemeester always has my attention, i'm definitely going to check out her a/w collection.
to be truthful, sometimes i do have trust the runways by default. it's a whole lot different experience to me when it comes to shopping, due to the accessibility and distance barries. for most of the times, when i don't get the chance to check out the particular pieces that i am really interested in, i'd just call some shops and order them. the outcome always differs, and of course, most of the ordered items which i didn't get to see before hand sometimes isn't worth of the anticipation. i don't buy a wardrobe full of clothes on a short vacation abroad, i buy them from time to time. more over, as for the tropical weather that we have here in kuala lumpur, all i can do is to see and appreciate what most fall collection items has to offer. it's sad.

We have a thread on the ann's collectin with a lot of pictures from different sources. Her F/W are always fantastic, S/S not as much, becasue she can't do as much layering, and let's face it, the whole rock'n'roll look is not that easy to pull off when the weather requires shorts and sandals . I hate the summer for that exact reason, so I hear what you are saying about Kuala Lumpur.
Tott, what a shocking reaction to Raf . I've always thought that on the contrary, because of his (or whoever cuts for him) impeccable cutting skills he's one of the very few who could get away experimenting with proportions. It's easy to make the skinny look (yes I'm talking to you Hedi fans ), but to make volume look good on men requires talent (in my humble opinion). In any Raf's collection you'll find a flawlessly cut coat or a suit.
Well, what can I say... Different folks, different strokes. Of course there's always been some great pieces from him, but a lot of the time he just feels off to me, as in not harmonius. I need balance and harmony. In my opinion, CdG and YY (for instance) has that, even when they play with symmetry and proportions.

Do you base your opinion on the runway presentation or on the actual pieces? I find Raf's runway presentations to be pretty over-the-top, myself. He tends to mix and match pieces that you'd never wear together, i.e. skintight pants and extremely voluminous tops. That isn't unusual for a show, but for some reason it really distracts me when I look at Raf on the runway--I can't get a feel for the clothes. As separates though, on the rack, I always find some great pieces--and I always find some pieces that are either too outre for me, or not my style--i.e., the oversized pieces.
re: Yohji, I think that his runway presentations are better in terms of mixing and matching proportions in a more cohesive way. I also don't consider there to be a real comparison between Raf and Yohji, on the rack--Yohji is just on a different level, as far as I'm concerned. The more I look at his current collection, the more it blows me away--especially considering I wasn't struck by it at all the first time I browsed it. I'm totally looking forward to his F/W collection, although it seemed to get panned by the critics while Raf was adored. Maybe there are just different expectations...
Both, I've seen his stuff in shops as well as in runway pics. For some reason, shapes and details seem off to me most of the time. Maybe mostly the detailing. I can't explain it, it just often feels wrong to me.
And I agree that Raf and Yohji are on different levels...
