Jane, I am glad you asked about Malan.

I find it kinda disturbing that some people (and I dont mean anyone particularly here, just people in general from reading various PR boards) automatically casts Malan as a villain type just because he is very mannered and has that Dr.Evil laugh. I think he is egotistical but he had standards so he wont embarrass himself and I think that basically deep down he has a good heart. I mean he did compliment Laura on her coat. In the extra video footage on Bravo, he was the one who volunteered to cook for his roommmates. I think he is just "a dramatic character" on the show. sorta like S1's Jay or Austin. Interesting but not a villain. The character he is most like to me is Stephen on TOP CHEF. I was one of the biggest defenders of Stephen on TOP CHEF on TWOP before his "redemption" because I never thought there was maliciousness in him, just a lot of callowness and egoism.

I dont think Malan is the least malicious. I dont feel the same about Keith however and that's why he is my pick for the season's villain

I think clearly it was just an oversight on the part of Bravo and possibly Elle too. Nina goes to countless shows and probably forgot or didn't notice the Valli sketch. I guess we will see what happens in the next couple of weeks.

Sorta off topic but I saw Austin Scarlett on a Preston Bailey special last night. He was helping the bride with her Amsale gown.

Have to slightly disagree about Stephen. I found his ego to be somewhat malicious. I don't think they would have wasted time on Malan in the previews and Tim mentioning the "bitch slap!" if Malan was going to exit early on. I was pleasantly surprised by his design. I did sense something nice about him even thru the weird affect. I would have thought he would have copped out using a bedsheet. BTW, as you can tell, I am down in a way on people who used easy outs for their design in this challenge. I am very supportive of those who used imagination in their "ingredients" because it took more thought. On the other hand, maybe they just weren't as quick on their feet to grab something

I like Laura and hope to see interesting architectural things from her. I thought it was a hoot that she showed up with her LV hardside luggage. Bet she sent that back home in the limo. Probably has 3 nannies to watch the 5 kids. Wonder if they are adopted? After 5 kids to be sooo flat chested? (Even my sister-in-law, flat as a board prior, is looking like a small B- after 3!)Granted she lives in NYC, but to leave 5 kids (yes, she probably needed a vacation away from them) for several weeks? How strict are they regarding your attempts at seeing the family? Can Tim take her to see the kids for ice cream? I am looking forward to how she does living with roomies after living in what I am sure is a lux NYC co-op/apt/brownstone. I'll bet Miss Ohio ends up doing the cooking (veggie I'm sure) I think Laura doesn't cook at all.

This could get very interesting. Either they knew about it and decided to see how it played out or they really goofed and some assist. producer will be looking for a new job or promoted because it helped the ratings. On a third go-round a show can get stale and need help for ratings. Perhaps the Valli people will call Keith on it and make a stink that he is plagerizing designs. Either way it is a win/win for ratings for the show.

I thought that Valli sketch looked familiar. And those do look alot like traces.
If you look at the Lacoste "sketch" everything is exactly the same. The tie is in the exact same place, so are the hands, the hair and mostly the sleeves. The only things that looks really different to me are the legs and the colour of the skirt.

i agree about malan. he's quite... harmless, i guess. thehepburn, are those the only two keith sketches that are blatantly copied from the runways? i'm really curious.

Here's one from the "Road To The Runway" special. Who's the designer? This one is a little tricky...You might have to use elle.com as well as style.com
