completely agree. this is pretty (overall, with some intensely ugly outfits here and there) but it's so safe it's almost boring. They're probably going for more wearability here, but it's not exciting or appealing as their earlier collections. it's truly disappointing.

the collection does seem very safe.

ugh at least last season, as garish and immature as it was, had some sort of spark behind it. this is so dull and lifeless, they might have well designed it in their sleep. i won't remember any of these looks come tomorrow.

I have always been a skeptic. Before they took off with the season after season of Balenciaga-ish (or rather Kaisik Wong's) collage dresses, bits of silk and lame for spring and bits of leather, feather and wool for winter, they were making exactly such clothes, I remember to my horror, some had floral appliques. Their first post-Balenciaga collage dresses weren't great and were badly cut but at least it had interesting wood textures and porcelain prints. This collection really shows they're really lost without doing those collage dresses which shot them to the stratosphere.

^The handprint is the dumbest thing I've seen in 'high fashion' in a long time. Sorry gals, but what up? First van Gogh, now this? If they claim to have been inspired by the drawings in the Chauvet-Pont-d'Arc Cave, there's a whole spectrum there of insanely beautiful drawings to base prints on...

Awww I kind of liked the "hands" printed dress :p and the way they kind of deconstructed or reconstructed the shearling jacket (e.g., as a dress), but yeah, I really miss their "roadkill knitwear" collections.

it's a bit sad to see really, they have so much talent and potential, but all they end up delivering is this. so disappointing....

I agree, I used to look forward to rodarte so much.
I loved the beautiful greens in last seasons collection, but there's not a glimmer of excitement / inspiration here
sad

I actually loved those corn field dresses a year ago and yes, I even got the van Gogh collection. But it truly isn't easy to get excited this time, even if I see 2-3 nice pieces. Overall an unflattering collection.

They seem to be developing their new collection with more of a vintage look. Very 40s, 50s, 70s. As some have stated, I miss romanticism of their early collections, with deconstructed and unusual fabrications in startling shades. Where has all that creativity gone?
