Artistically beautifully , but commercially 0 , Rodarte is another Olivier Theyskens at Nina Ricci waiting to happen.

Totally unexpected, but love it....The accessoires are amazing.....
Although there's lots to look at and so much different things going on, but i see they are trying to do something new and different, but keeping some of their old elements.
Rodarte is always one of the highlight of NYFW !! Keep going girls

But they don't seem to actually design for the women they seem to be supposedly inspired by or who are similar to themselves. This is SO unwearable and not only that, unattractive. I'm sorry but all those wood working pieces make me think of the little kits I would get when I was little that allowed you to etch in a wood image using an iron/burning technique.
I think I see why this coule be more commercial than usual. Eventhough most of the design are still hard to wear in real life, with this collection it feels like it's easier to imagine how it would look when toned down. Which is something that has been missing in their last few collections.

I have to say that I totally love this. I'm loving most collections with warm colors this seasons and it looks like they even got the minty ones right as well. It's def a departure from previous collections in so many ways. It's more structured and maybe even a little more harsh. I think that's a good thing for this collection.

WOW so this is the 1st Rodarte collection that got me to want to see more... i am glad they have moved on fom that gothic fringing as it was just not happening for me but instead used their talent and eye for detail for something much more beautiful

I'm SO GLAD this is different, and they're taking steps in other directions. However, it doesn't make the clothes any more wearable. They're certainly nice to look at though.

That's where Target comes in.

Actually my reaction is that this collection is more wearable and commercial than other collections, but they've achieved this and still maintained their designerishnessness. I don't like everything, some of those keyhole tops look home-sewn and those blue pattern dresses do not look sophisticated, although it may work on the right starlet or in the right ed. I am intrigued and even excited about the wood inspired textiles, I don't necessarily like them all, but the exciting part is that it is not the same old-same old and to me does not look like a sofa or the faux wood covering you'd see on a wall or counter top. Although admittedly, on more than a few looks the stiffness of the fabric does not work, hopefully the Sisters Mulleavy will refine this in later collections and / or in the store versions of the runway looks.

I'm not a big Rodarte fan these days. I prefer their earlier work and the custom made pieces they make (for Natalie Portman usually) for the red carpet. But this collection is at least a step in the right direction. It's still not really my thing, but it's better than the arts and crafts 'designs' they sent down the runway the past couple of seasons.

The last jacket in post 64 is by far my favorite piece. The wood grain gives literal meaning to "faux bois." Don't know about this collection. Need the HQ's...

I love it!
the collection looks like
it came from an ancient Japanese story
it soo beautiful...I do believe this is a lot more
wearable but I do agree that this seems more
like F/W and the F/W seemed liked S/S...
their most wearble collection though to me was F/W 09 and that
was one of my favorites
