I thought it was quite obvious of the sisters to use Van Gogh's artwork as prints, subsequently filtering them to embellishments. The former was not necessary - if all of the pieces were as inspired by his works as that sheer dress with the sunflowers applied or the 'Starry Night' dress, then it would have been a much more successful collection, in my opinion.
This collection feels as if the sisters were trying to filter out the memory of their papier mache dresses and inject some run-of-the-mill fashion quirkiness instead. Though I was never a fan of the papery dresses, at least noone else did them.

Hmm, this collection is kind of hit-and-miss. With the hits being really successful. My main complaint with some of the pieces are kind of...trendy. I always look forward to Rodarte because they always try something completely out of the box. For example, I am seeing neon colours and colour blocking. I am sick of neon colours and colour blocking. I will excuse them for doing cut-outs because they have been doing that for seasons (and beautifully, may I add). That being said, the printed dresses are to die for. All of them. The gowns are lovely.

the 'starry night' could've been so much more interesting if they weren't so heavy handed. all those ruffles and frills...why couldn't it just be a nice dress with an incredible print?

its very hit and miss , as others have said . Some of the dresses and sweater skirt combos are gorgeous but the pant ensembles are horrid , the dresses towards the end are a bad 80s prom, it also lacks the X factor , Rodarte collections usually have . This has a run of the mill NYC vibe going on in parts.

I LOVE IT.
It's sunny and bright.
Pretty with Star Trek looking uniforms.
I want ALL of the purple dresses.

Too heavy handed and the fabrics seemed "forced" into these shapes that don't really make sense. I'm also confused about the progression of the show from this earthy and bright Van Gogh to these iridescent tweedy looking stiff fabrics and then the neon. It looks like they picked the color story straight from the painting, which was poorly executed.

This is disappointing. I'm always curious as to how they can push the fabric combos and treatment further but this doesn't have the same cohesiveness in terms of a fabric story that past collections had.

This is so inconsistent. I feel sorry for the girls because those coloured knit jumpers appeared (to far better effect) at Hilfiger two days ago; these look like bad copies of those.

I've noticed that since the 'references to Mexican drug mules' scandal that Rodarte appearances in print have been scarce; I've seen one piece from the FW collection in editorial so far. I won't feel bad about this collection not getting any promo though .
