oh Rodarte, why do you do this to me, you are normally the best and my most cherished designers i look to at nwfw and you do this? It just feels regrettably like a big mash up of proenza, balenciaga and marni. It's a shame as the girls normally have their own stamp on things and that was one of the factor's as to why i loved their aesthetic. And seriously what is with the hair, it is just awful
It's all over the place. I can't even process what is going on in all of those looks, there's too much and it's trying way too hard. That said, I do like some looks and I'm glad they're finally moving on from the prairie girl look and are back to experimenting with a more daring and modern look. I'll have to look at this a few more times to make up my mind about what I think of this as a whole but I certainly don't dislike it as much as most others here. Some of the shoes look awesome!
it's derivative from balenciaga and other designers, it's a mess as its full of different styles, certain looks are very bad BUT there are some amazing pieces here and there and it's a million times better than the awful trainwreck that was ss12 so i'm not totally negative about this collection / hating it as much as everyone else seems to be.
For a forum that likes drawing comparisons to Balenciaga, I'm surprised Proenza Schouler are being brought up when they, like Rodarte, have only adapted to NY standards that 'clumsy' look Nicolas insisted on for so long.
That said, this still looks very Rodarte to me, and very Christopher Kane.. meaning it's the same look over and over with a few variations (a print/collage/patchwork added on) to pretend it's remotely suitable for an active wardrobe and not a window display or editorial. Same thing they've always done...
^I don't know.. While Proenza has adapted a lot from Balenciaga, I find Balenciaga to be more structured in their designs while Proenza is more laid back. So I can see why both are being used to describe this collection.. Rodarte definitely falls somewhere in between those two with this collection.
