Designer to show at New York's Fash Week in September

(NEW YORK) Rosa Chá has found a permanent home in New York. Amir Slama, the designer behind the 7-year-old international brand best known for its exotic, sleek, and revealing swimwear announced today that beginning with the September 2006 season, he will no longer participate in São Paulo Fashion Week. Instead, he will show exclusively during New York’s Olympus Fashion Week. The Rosa Chá resort will show during Sunglass Hut Swim Shows Miami in July while Slama’s second brand, Sais, will continue to show at São Paulo Fashion Week.
Rosa Chá has been showing in São Paulo for several years and at New York’s Olympus Fashion Week for five years. He last showed in New York in September 2005. According to his publicist, Slama “began to feel distressed by the repetition of showing the collection in both São Paulo and New York, fearing that the New York show lacked excitement despite his emotional involvement in every collection.” His spokesperson added that Slama hopes to increase the focus and excitement surrounding the New York shows and feels that the best way to achieve this is by only showing in New York. “New York has always received our product very well and since we have been expanding our market, we thought that it would perfect to focus the launchings in the U.S.,” the designer said.
Part of the catalyst behind today’s announcement was the company’s recent association with the textile group, Marisol, that now controls a portion of the brand’s capital. The partnership gave the brand the confidence it needed to make this decision. “The association has enabled us to give structure to our business in a more agile manner,” Slama noted.
Rosa Chá has lately garnered increased focus. The brand is carried in 22 stores in Brazil as well as in St. Tropez, Portugal, Miami, and Lisbon. The collection can also be found at 380 multi-brand boutiques in Brazil and at 120 international high-end stores including Saks Fifth Avenue, Printemps, and Harvey Nichols. Most recently, Slama created a limited-edition Rosa Chá for Club Med collection to be sold at select Club Med resort boutiques throughout the Americas. He also designed a swimwear line for Nikki Beach in St Tropez. He created four special suits with the company logo and each will be sold in Nikki Beach stores.

Rosa Cha is THE swimwear line to many people ... I like Cia Maritima as well ... but yeah .. this seems right because they did the exact same show twice in different cities (just like A. Herchcovitch).
