I'm glad they're making the effort to present a good line... goingo to fashion school, internship, etc. And well, hopefully they will show some interesting stuff and stand apart from the other celeb lines...
That still doesn't justify the prices... I'm not trying to be negative (actually I LIKE what I' have seen), but even though they are celebs, their line is clearly focused on teenage girls (20 years old tops), and unless their target are ultrarich and celeb teens (which there aren't many), I don't think they should price their clothing that high... moreso if they're starting. They're noone in the fashion biz yet...

you think so? i thought the tailored aspect of the line would appeal to more 'mature' consumers as well. plus the colours and such chosen so far are not girlish at all, so it would suit a wider audience

They probably have no clue what normal people can afford. They've been billionaires since childhood.

What I have seen looks nice enough but I don't think there is anything special to particularly warrant the prices, not for me personally.

Although the tailoring might appeal to a slightly older woman in principle, I would think that some would be put off by the fact that the line is by Mary-Kate and Ashley who although they are 'fashion icons' are generally more associated with a teeny-bopper crowd. I am young and I find this association (rightly or wrongly) off putting.

The piece chosen to be put in the article debuting the Olsens' upcoming collection is a T-shirt whose main design element is a french seam.... I dunno how excited anyone could be about this collection ?

150 usd is actually not bad, when you consider the design and that they've decided to use a more labourious technique to finish it. plus you can imagine easily how much fabric, especially very nice quality fabric, costs these days the price could easily go up much higher for the same product if an independent designer created it, with no help from riches like the Olsens do
i agree with you, it's not that bad considering they are using couture techniques and have put a lot of thought into the design. i mean, everything they've ever produced has been such poor quality yet the girls themselves, most of the time have, good taste so it's nice to see them making the effort to put something out there that's a little up-market.

i get the impression that they are trying to keep this line quite elite.. if they charged lower prices swarms of young children would be rushing to buy it (no matter what the designs were like) and i don't think that's what they want this time.

i'm excited about the long tank tops, i like the idea of really good solid basics and i like that they're not trying to be too fancy or do too much too soon.

mka said on the today show that aired today that the line is exclusive to barney's and should be on the floor now...

they're also working on a contemporary line apparently...

Selma blair in The ROW

Wednesday, December 20, 2006

(LOS ANGELES) Britney Spears isn’t the only one with a new ’do. Selma Blair turned up at the L.A. party for the film Pan’s Labyrinth on Monday with a new asymmetrical cut, part faux-hawk, part pixie, designed specially for her by Garren in New York. “I loved having long hair,” said the petite brunette actress, “but in my heart, I’m a short-haired girl. This is a combo of skater punk and chic. I’ll have to wear wigs for work, but they’ll fit me more easily.” The front left side of her new cut dips deep into her eyes—let’s hope it sparks off a new trend. After all, how boring is all this long one-length hair? As for her outfit, Blair looked stellar clad in the new skinny high waisted pants by The Row, the Olsen twins’ fashion line that is available at Barneys New York.

How much are the pants?
Is the contemporary line the one for Walmart? I think they said that they were going to do an adult line for Walmart. I wonder when that will be out.

I'm rather put off by the high prices. I'm going to stop by Barney's...hopefully the Dallas one will have their line...and give it a whirl.

i dont understand why people are so unhappy about this collection.

first of all we havent even seen the whole thing.

and to be honest, olsen twins have pretty good taste. esp for their age.

and if you consider the fact that they dont use stylists like other celebs...

the line does look like high-quality, and 150 for a t-shirt really isnt too bad.

there are tons of other brands that sell t-shirts for that price.
velvet makes t-shirt material dress/tunics and sells them for 180... and people dont have any prob with them. so why now? why attack the olsens?
and 550 for cashmere sweater? comeon.. are you expecting them to cost 100????
just because theyve been catering to the walmart-preteen generation doesnt mean that thats the only thing they can do... and it certainly doesnt mean that they cant try something else...
give them a break..

from what ive seen so far, its definitely different from jlo/jessica simpson/nicky hilton brands..

I don't know how I'd feel wearing something designed by the twins, but I do like what I've seen. Not the prices, but that jacket is pretty and Selma looks smoking in those pants!
