wow, this collection looks horrible in these photos.

somarta is actually a wonderful brand.... those lace bodysuits, are a staple of the label and are used every season. they are produced using software and special machines...think `apoc`. the clothes themselves are very beautiful up close. I was sitting second row and they looked great. Take away the theatrics and they are very elegant clothing. a darling of japan fashion week. a shame it doesnt translate in the photos

I acutally like the presentation. I love the 'tribal' look and theme.

Too much for my brain to process therefore I find it unappealing.

the fabric and creation process of those lace bodysuits you mention intrigue me, mishahoi. have you any more info on them?
I was able to gather from their website it's nylon based (98% nylon 2% pu??) but not much more than you mentioned about how they are made.

I can`t find the invite from their show last season which had all of the details about their knitting techniques on it, but here is what I had to say about it then:

Quote:
TOKYO SHOWS
Second skins

By Misha Janette
Special to The Japan Times
The second runway outing for Somarta, designed by former Issey Miyake staffer Tamae Hirokawa, displayed continuity with her previous collection in its use of lace bodysuits covered in brilliant Swarovski crystal studs, which were paraded in front of a screen showing images of swirling galaxies and a marching army of metallic flowers that conjured up a revolutionary, almost apocalyptic mood.

Somarta These flowers were in fact clematises, apparently the inspiration for this collection of seamless machine-made knitwear. Making full use of advanced Japanese textile technology, Somarta presented designs of which some were made with the aid of specially created knitwear computer programs and devices. Squinting past the blinding crystals, it was possible to pick out exquisite '20s-inspired black- and nude-lace dresses, and some interestingly tucked and pleated wide trousers.
While it could be said that Hirokawa channeled Alexander McQueen with a gold breastplate top and giant chandelier headpiece, these technologically advanced second-skin designs were pieces of truly admirable craftsmanship.

I really can't find individual pieces to like---and I did try.

I really like a few pieces but I'm a Somarta fan in general I had to look closely, though to find the things I liked... the presentation is overwhelming
